We need someone to film a documentary on toilets.

But it will probably have to be released in two versions: the original and the sanitized.

Times two for a total of four:

Northern hemisphere versions will depict swirl in a clockwise direction, while southern hemisphere versions will depict swirl in an anti-clockwise direction.

What Hammer Horror boxset are you refering to, DR TD?  I had no idea one was being issued!

A collection of horror classics from Hammer Studios. Six films that feature horror stars Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.

Includes:

The Curse Of Frankenstein (1957)
Horror Of Dracula (1958)
The Mummy (1959)
Dracula Has Risen From The Grave (1968)
Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (1969)
Taste The Blood Of Dracula (1970)

I have my sociolinguistics exam tomorrow afternoon...
And you are having an effect on some of your fellow DRs, dear Emily!  Or at least one of them.

Der Brucer has been reading a book called Mighty Fine Words and Smashing Expressions: Making Sense of Transatlantic English by Orin Hargraves.  For FUN!

This, instead of reading Kritzer Time.

Oh, to have this burden of guilt at as young an age as yours!

The final afternoon of the Rehoboth Beach Food and Wine Festival is over.  Has been for a few hours, just haven't posted about it 'til now.  And what a glorious time was had.

We started back at the Blue Moon again, to reconnect with Dennis, Tom and Tom from Rainbow Ridge Winery.  (Sorta sounds like a Newhart reference!)  Nice fellows, who have had a very good time over the weekend.  We ended up following them over to their next stop, over at S&S Liquors, for another tasting they were holding, along with another winery that had a very interesting sparkling wine that was accented with almonds!

A bottle of the RR Chardonnay and the almond sparkler now reside in the spare fridge downstairs.

From there, over to DISH! again, for some French wine and cheeses.  No way can we afford a Bordeaux, but I do love a good Beaujolais.  That, plus we got to strike up a good conversation with the chef/owner of DISH!, answering some of der Brucer's questions about the business.

All and all, a good weekend for us.

All right, let's get a posting frenzy going or Dear Friend BK will not be fit to live with!  I've always been more interested, DR Michael Shayne, on Tony winners who didn't deserve to win.  for instance, the late great lamented Lynn Thigpen, in my opinion, deserved to win for TINTYPES but she lost to Lauren Bacall, who seemed to me to sleepwalk through WOMAN OF THE YEAR.

Any thoughts?

I had the same opinion of Ms Bacall when I saw Woman of the Year. i thought she was walking throught the show. The excuse I made was that it was a matinee and she was saving her energy for the evening performance. Looking back I think it was a lousy excuse.

One of the CDs I listen to this was Jane Monheit live at the Rainbow room. Has anyone seen or heard her? I think she is wonderful and she sang a wonderful arrangement of Over the Rainbow. One of the best after the classic version of course

I really should sit down and give a listen to the Hairspray OCR again.  We're going to an "Evening With" Shaiman and Wittman in New Jersey tomorrow eve, and a little more familiarity is in order.

It seems like such lightweight piffle, though.

The DTS sound version.  ;)

the only one available on dvd. . .from Columbia, so, it's the original release, complete with the mashed potatoes.

Okay a quick poll for my vacation in June...

Should I go to LA and Australia/New Zealand or
Should I go to Italy and Germany or
Should I go to LA and then travel up the coast to San Fran.

I have only been to LA before.

Any thoughts?

I saw both performances, and found Thigpen vastly more Tony-worthy than Lauren Bacall.  It seemed the Tony voters were just awarding a major star's return to Broadway.  But that show couldn't help revealing how weak Bacall is as a musical theatre performer.  Lynne Thigpen was the real deal.

So, you see, I don't always think the Tony voters are right!

I always hated how they decide who is a lead and who is featured performance.  I mean Tom Bosley and Tammy Grimes won featured awards for playing the title roles in Fiorello and Molly Brown. Their names were below the title! George Rose won best actor for a supporting role in My Fair Lady when his role was a supporting one. He was nominated because his name was above the title!

The original theatrical version, special edition or the director's cut?
Tthe one released to dvd restores the film to its original ending, although we don’t get the 1977 cut of the movie. Instead, the DVD provides a third edition of the flick, one created by Spielberg for a 1998 VHS and LD release. This 137-minute “Collector’s Edition” cut combines different aspects of the 1977 and 1980 versions.

Have any of you seen the subservient chicken website put out by Burger King yet?

Hours of fun (yes I have an exam-feebled mind)

Just type in a command and watch the chicken obey!  Remarkable!  What did we do before the internet?!? ;)

The FIORELLO score is not one of my favorites either, but I've never seen the show on stage, and I'm sure I'd be more enthusiastic about it if I could see the songs in context.

Not going to get into the FOLLIES debate again. I think it's fabulous, score AND book. Definitely should have won Best Musical that year.

I also would have picked either OVER HERE! or SEESAW as Best Musical over RAISIN. I did not find the drama of A RAISIN IN THE SUN enhanced at all by adding music. On the contrary, I found the piece less affecting.
