Someone on the film music board just posted this lovely thing about the new book:

I received my copy earlier this week, and it has been an absolutely enjoyable read. I blazed through it in two sittings and loved every sentence of it. Mr Kimmel tells us about his years as an actor-director-composer, through the struggles and successes and friendships along the way. It's a side of "Mr Kritzerland" that I think many film score collectors (myself included) don't know about.

It's written in very honest, unpretentious prose, and the passion he has for his craft (acting, writing and film-making) is genuine and palpable. It is filled with joys and triumphs as well as failures and mistakes (one line in which he talks about a particular film music label, "...if I'd invested my $2,500 back in 1978 I would be a millionaire", made me wince and go "Ouch!") I wouldn't hesitate to give this my strongest recommendation to anyone who's interested.

Navel Lint Recipe

Ingredients:

1 oz. Vodka
1 Splash Lime Juice
2 oz. Amaretto
9 oz. Coca Cola

Mixing Instruction:

Pour amaretto and vodka over ice in a large glass. Add the cola and a little bit of lime juice. Give it a sir and enjoy.

I don't know if it's the same thing (and I haven't looked it up), but one of my sister's favorite drinks is called a Fuzzy Navel.

A Fuzzy Navel is usually just Peach Schnapps and Orange Juice. Sometimes "extended" with some vodka.

...And I'm suddenly having flashbacks to my sophomore year in college...
