Has Facebook finally made this discussion board redundant or unnecessary?

People move on.  Sometimes the break is temporary, and sometimes it is permanent.

That's life.

It is rarely redundant, just different.  It is also faster & there isn't the need/desire to read or comment on posts.  IMHO if someone goes to FB & doesn't come here they still wouldn't have visited here if there wasn't a FB.

And Kathy Griffin's My Life on the D List is also on tonight. Sadly the channel that shows it here has not even shown last season. I really like this show. :(

I really really wish that we were able to get USA, TNT and Bravo here in Canada.

I have a lot of reading to do. Currently I am reading HEART OF THE MATTER by Emily Giffin.  Then i have another book. And then another library book I lent my sister (the latest in the Vampire Academy series).

Then i see the library is just getting 3 other books i requested (The new Stephenie Meyer novella, the new Meg Cabot adult book INSATIABLE, and the new book by Cecily Von Ziegesar CUM LAUDE).

I don't really find facebook and HHW similar.  Facebook is a place to store your pictures, post on friends' walls. But unless all your friends know each other it's not really a message board. Although there are some interesting message boards on different topics/tv shows ...

Facebook is a completely different animal, however I do enjoy it when you actually post something on your Facebook page, BK. You should do that more often.

From DR George:

Hopefully, what you're paying is the cost is for the whole job and not by the hour.

It is by the job.  I think you missed my post saying they made up the time once they switched out the shovel for a different one.  They did a fantastic job & didn't cause any damage to the side of the driveway.

Today they graded and rolled & prepped the foundation.  This company came in with the best bid & in our opinion are doing the best possible work with top quality materials.  As they ripped up the previous driveway all the mistakes were revealed, including the fact a poor quality asphalt was used.

I have decided that it is absolutely insane for me to think I have time to reglaze all of my windows.  So, I'm back on the replacement plan.  I can't afford to do them all at once, but am looking for a contractor who may be less than using the Pella guy.  I do like the Pella windows though, but will need another estimate because I want to do a different room first.

I've gotten a recommendation from a friend who is a home inspector for the city.  I'll see what this guy charges when he calls me back

This also means that I don't "need" to stay friends with HWHC aka Mr. Difficult.   He's one of those people who just knowing seems to drain energy.  There's a lot about him to like, but I don't have the energy to deal with the rest of it.

"need" should not be the reason to stay friends.  Now you can relax ;)

TOD:  Funny plays  I have seen where I laughed uproariously

Frayn's NOISES OFF
Molnar's THE PLAY'S THE THING
Shaw's MISALLIANCE
Coward's PRESENT LAUGHTER
Coward's FALLEN ANGELS
Wilde's IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
Orton's LOOT

Too many others I can't remember...

I haven't seen much Neil Simon on here, so let me add The Odd Couple and Plaza Suite, both of which I saw with Dan Dailey (Richard Benjamin was his co-star in Couple and Lee Grant his co-star in Suite) - they were outrageously funny.  Bedroom Farce by Alan Ayckbourn was truly hilarious as well, featuring John Lithgow and Mildred Natwick.

I  called the Pella window guy to come and measure the dining room.  I may just stick with them.

I'm still trying to find someone to help with the postage - it's VERY irritating.  And I was just adding up the number of postage strips we'll need and yesterday's helper's penmanship leaves a whole lot to be desired - at some point he became tired, and it's bordering on illegible.  But I'm not going to redo them and shall just hope they get where they need to.

Before I write to him, I would like a simple answer - has anyone heard back from dear reader or not, Jose.

His last post here was on June 10, and I believe DR edisaurus told me he had gone to Virginia to visit his family.

He may be going through something personal, but I have no idea.

TOD:

I have seen several comedie plays, but none stand out for me other then THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X, and that is not just me buttering BK. It really is the funniest play I have yet seen, at least to my recollection.

And speaking of plays, I am taking my 8 year old neice Taylor to see the  Broadway tour of SOUTH PACIFIC when it comes to Portland in August. I think we will both enjoy it.

A guy named Gilfrey will be the star. I didn't recognize any of the other names.

I did not write him.  I can see on FB he isn't answering direct questions.  He has put up a few photos and that is about it.  I think for awhile he didn't have a connection.  I have no idea if that is still a problem.  My guess, he is recharging & taking a break from the commuter, other activities & catching up with friends he hasn't seen in a long while.
