BK, do you know Robert Morse?

Not really.  I've seen him at Jerry's Deli.

Glad the session went well, Elmore

Thank you. The Dutch letters were a huge hit today at the studio and everyone now knows about the Jaarsma Bakery. I believe I owe that information to you.

Just posted on my Facebook wall:

Dear Bruce, comments fail me. i am shattered. i just listened to SUGAR'S reincarnation. Jule Styne and Bob Merrill's music and lyrics like never heard before. The sound " What heart and brilliance." a genius undertaking. no one and i mean no one will ever touch Jule Styne's exuberance and beat. This was and remains my most personal happiest moments on a stage. And to be associated with that cast and Jule and Merrill and Gower. and now to hear the astounding re-mix ..thank you for making it seem live and as if i were there ....so touched MOST SINCERELY ROBERT MORSE

What a great note. I wish my copy would get to me while I'm on vacation. That was one of my favorite scores when I was starting to learn the wonders of the musical theater. And I'm really anxious to hear what you've done.

Relatively breezy day at St. Margaret's Hospital:  my blood work was taken on time - 9:20am appointment - then they told me to head on over to radiology where my appointment was scheduled for 12:15pm.  Radiology took me right away, I barely had time to finish a chapter in APE HOUSE, where they offered me ten choices of flavors for the barium beverage.  I elected to try the cappuccino flavored, which were tasty if chalky.  Then, to let the barium pass through, I got to sit and snooze for the next hour and a half.
The CAT scan was most interesting.   No felines were involved.  The sensations which the dye provided were accurately described to me by the technician.  Boy, did he have those sensation descriptions down to a tee!
I'm ready for nap time, however, and the barium after effects are nothing to be sneezed at.  ;)
Vibes for good test results.

Hello, everyone! Thank you all for today's vibes. I knew there was something in the air. The day went really well. The morning session was our first singer, Jonathan Michie, a 26 year-old baritone of much intelligence at talent. I had allotted two session for him, this morning and Monday morning, and he nailed everything - two German lieder, 2 Irish folk song arrangements, a comedy love song, a sentimental ballad, and a patriotic number - within 3 and a half hours. We then broke for lunch and recorded 4 piano solos before breaking. Tomorrow we are off because there's a street fair scheduled and the outside noise wou;ld get into the mix. Since Jonathan's recorded, we are taking part of Monday morning off, then we'll go in, record several more piano pieces and begin the cello and piano duets.

It was a good first day, and I am very pleased. Thank you all again for the support and those vibes!

BK, what a neat message from Robert Morse!

Great to hear it, Elmore.

I just heard that my friend, James Bacon, has died.  He was 96.

Jim was one of the last of the great newspaper columnists from Hollywood's Golden Era.

If you ever needed a plug in his column for something you were doing, you could always count on Jim to give it to you.

He will be missed.

Made it to Virginia. Tomorrow, it's on to the Shenandoah Valley and the fun can begin. I need after a day of flight delays and a weird dinner with my friend Carol's sister, who is somewhat flaky. Nice, but flaky.

We're "home" from a nice visit with Richard's seminary classmate and his family.  It was a casual at-home Saturday night - chicken wings and TV football.  We're in Univ. of Central Florida country, so "Go, Knights!"

More twaddle from the "Promises" producers:

http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/09/17/producer-responds-to-closing-of-promises-promises/?ref=arts

And twaddle it is.  A tour???  Please.  Recouping?  "All signs point to it"?  I know one of the credited producers - if he shows me a check for any profit I will eat a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry - I won't be, don't worry.
