from yesterday

RE: OLIVER!

David (Davey) Jones was not part of the original cast. He replaced the original actor who played the Artful Dodger. If memory serves without looking it up he was Michael Goodman. He's on the recording. Also one or two songs were dropped and later put back in by the time it got to Broadway. I think one was That's Your Funeral

I'm up, and in about ten minutes I'll head downstairs.  Thanks for all the strong and excellent vibes and xylophones for good weather and an on time, safe and stress-free flight back to LA - and keep 'em coming.

Yesterday's Topic of the Day:  not too long after we moved here to Washington, when I was in high school, we (my family) went to see  "The Pirates of Penzance" in Seattle at the Fifth Avenue Theatre.  I don't remember too much about it, except that Peter Noone, formerly of The Herman's Hermits, played Frederic and James Belushi (then only known as John's younger brother) was the Pirate King.  I think that that was the very first time that I had seen a national touring show.  We all loved it!

Yesterday was a very long day and I'm tooooo tired to even write about it.

Today won't be as long a day, but it'll be eventful.  My sister's birthday is tomorrow (Monday), but we're celebrating today, so I'll be over there in the afternoon.

So,here I am at the airport.  When I booked my car service yesterday I did as I always do, told them I was a nervous traveler and to please get the car there a liitle early so that it would be there when i came down.  I came down at 4:40 to leave at 4:45. No car. At 4:43 I called and they told me the car was two blocks away.  At 4:48 I called back, told them the car was still not there and that I was getting in a cab, which is exactly what I did.  Had a great cab driver who got to the airport in twenty five minutes.  Line wasn't bad at all and I was through security in ten minutes.  I'm now at the gate.  The car service will be getting a call from me when I get home.

I leave Massanutten today where I did next to nuttin' all week, except walk through woods that were rapidly changing color, take a ski lift, learn to zipline, visit wineries, etc. Guess it was a busier week than I remember.

Does/has anybody here watched the series Burn Notice?

Since we don't get USA it was never on here. But they've started showing the first season.

I watched the first episode and can't decide if it's something I'd like or not. I do tend to like the shows on USA (I love Royal Pains, White Collar and In Plain Sight). The lead guy is appealing. I was just curious if this is a must see show.

Nice new baritone, DR ELMORE.....the song will be improved by his singing it.

And it's strange that you mention Marilyn Horne singing "Jeanne With the Light Brown Hair"....night before last on CLASSIC ARTS SHOWCASE, there she was at La Scala....singing first "Beautiful Dreamer" and then "Jeanne" for a very appreciative audience....

Good morning, all! I slept late, catching up on sleep from the week, and now I'm bathed, dressed, and pondering today's events. I need to run down to Toyland, but with the MTA screwing up the weekend subway, i know there's probably no local service; I guess I'll make the trip tomorrow when regular service resumes. I'm trying to hold off on the laundry for a couple more days since, beginning this Saturday, I'm in a studio for five straight days,so I'll wait until Wednesday or Thursday to do it and mop the floors.

I guess I'll vacuum around 11am, and spend the day writing. I may see a movie tonight, depending on how the day goes and how I'm feeling.

BK, maybe you should just tell the car service to send the car 5-10 minutes earlier than you plan to arrive in the lobby? A couple of years ago, on a flight to London, I had the same problem: car would arrive at 4:45 am, we'd pick up Robert Kimball at 5 am, and then head to La Guardia. The car never arrived, because the driver never showed up to work, and the car service had to find someone else quick. The problem is, what do you do with all the luggage you've dragged down to the sidewalk when you need to run back upstairs to make phone calls? The answer is, you drag it all back  cursing all the way, since leaving it unattended for the homeless to pick through at 4:30am is not a smart choice.

I must say that I am loving all the space now that those 22 cartons are gone.
