Do you realize that if each of our nine dear readers currently perusing the board each posted 20 posts in the next three minutes, we'd break all previous records.  Not that I want anyone to do that, because that would reek of sensationalism and we're about quality not quantity, although I suppose we could be about both.

MDEIA CHECK(I am trying BK):

DVD --
THE MUMMY RETURNS, not as good as the first one, but enjoyable.  But dammit, if they are going to use Bendon in films, they must remember the first rule:  NO SHIRT!
Next up:  Abbott and Costello's TIME OF THEIR LIVES.

CD --
OCR THE BOY FROM OZ.  Not a great show, but, at least, now, when I think of Going to Rio, it is with Hugh rather than Peter.

We've got people modifying, we've got people previewing, and then we've got me - I don't modify or preview - I just turn into a posting frenzy.

I saw Peter Allen at the Roxy here in LA - he was a superb live performer and Rio was a ton of fun.  He gave his all.  Those were the days at the Roxy.  In a very short period of time I saw Mr. Allen, The Manhattan Transfer, Bobby Short, Melissa Manchester and Billy Crystal.  This was the summer I was doing the Dinah Shore show on CBS, so we were always taken back to meet the people.  Ah, the power of television.  And then we had the Backlot, where I saw Mr. Charles Pierce many times.

Just got back from doing errands and just walking around in a non-errandy fashion.
On my return home found a great Mother's Day present in the mail -- a white T-shirt from the darling daughter, Rachel. On the front of the shirt is written...
 "My Kid is a Genius."
Perfect!
She wrote a lovely sentiment in the card : "Thanks for always being there whenever I need anything. Anyone can be a mother, but you are also a mommy. I love you."
Isn't that nice? I done good with the kid.

When is Mother's Day.  We've got a lot of mothers right here at haineshisway.com.  Some of them lurk.

Only some - we love our lurkers, but we all know that there are one or two out there who are mothers.

Speaking of Charles Pierce, I got my DVD of TORCH SONG TRILOGY in the mail today. Probably won't get to it for awhile, but I understand Harvey's commentary is very revelatory and entertaining. Looking forward to seeing it in widescreen. The laserdisc was full frame, of course,

I was modifying.  But I had to.  My message looked like:

That is not a good message!

I wonder if I shall be getting any mother's day presents.  I'm quite a mother myself.

Mother's Day is tomorrow. Impossible to believe it got here so fast. Seems like yesterday was Valentine's Day.

I ran into Charles in the commissary when they were shooting that movie at The Culver Studios, where I had an office.  It was grand to see him, and as always, he was very sweet and warm to me.

OK, I'm off now for more media edification. I guess LA DRAGNET will be next.

Sorry to read bk and RLP are not feeling well today. Glad Jose is making a comeback to good health.

I saw Peter Allen in Toronto at a free outdoor concert near Lake Ontario. Not an easy setting for the performer - lots of noise from the surrounding crowds, airplanes, etc.. He was unbelievably good -- you could have powered the city with the energy he exuded. The crowd didn't want to let him go. When we got home, Rachel, who was tiny and learning to play the piano (Suzuki-type method for tots) decided that she wanted to play like Peter - standing on the piano.

I'm going to miss my kid on Mother's Day. I'm going to miss my mother on Mother's Day. So far it doesn't sound like it's going to be a riproariin' Fun Day. Drats!

Of course Mother's Day is tomorrow.

Got my gift (for my mother). I think I shall go wrap it now.  And eat.

It is my aunt's birthday on Tuesday. So I think I shall wrap her gift at the same time.

Interesting she chose Greek food for her birthday dinner.  I do like that.  But I was really hoping that she would pick Chinese!

I'm not going to bother modifying because it looks like a Dutch word: Riproariin. Cousin of Rembrandt.

Perhaps I should have clarified my statement.  I think that the late Peter Allen was a fantastic entertainer, however, if I am going to fantasize about going away to Rio with someone, I would much prefer that it be Hugh Jackman.

Happy Mother's Day, BK!  Early.  I'm off to see VAN HELSING with my goddaughter tonight, and I won't be back till the cows come home.

I think I'd enjoy the commentary more than I did the film.
