DR TCB, I'm sorry to hear about your director friend and his cancer.

By the way, I've got the tentative reservation booked at Artie's for you.

It must be fate, Ben!  Everytime I turn around, you and I are alone here.

I guess so.

I'm listening to Beverley Humhreys on BBC Radio Wales right now.

I might be on with a review of La Cage or Memphis. I never know but she sent me an e-mail this week saying that the received the CD with the reviews.

Still beautiful outside.

Anthony is in the other room on the laptop listening to old music on YouTube (Jack Buchanan, a 78 of Tea for Two, Gertrude Lawrence and other similar stuff).

Vic Damone singing There, I've Said it Again. It's not a show tune but it is good late night music for Cardiff. It is 10:10pm there after all.

I am not sure that these non-paid furlough days are good for the state employees.  However, if they keep adding more of them, maybe I can qualify for public assistance!  Nicky is a minor.

The Union is threatening to block these last two days that have been added, and the Secretary has threatened to order more layoffs instead.  We just can't win right now.

And they say that next year will be worse.  Another major shortfall in the budget.

TOD:

Canter's: Corned Beef on Rye.

 ;D

They don't have Jewish Rye Bread here in Austin.

 :'(

And, I think that the only Jewish deli here must be run by goyim.

 ;)

The only Jewish rye I have been able to find is at Central Market, but I think they call it something politically correct like Bavarian Sourdough Rye or something.

I guess I ordered THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS by mistake.  I have never had any desire to see it, but since I own it, I guess I might as well.

This week we found out that the Artistic Director of one of our local theater companies has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer.

It is amazing to see everyone rally around him.
Sorry to hear that. I have too many friends and acquaintances who are undergoing chemo and radiation treatment right now. I'm going to have brunch with one friend and his wife tomorrow, so it will be good to catch up with him.

Vibes and prayers for all who are facing it right now and the people who are helping them through this difficult time.

Well, I got up way too early today and judged the wine competition. They wanted us there by 8:15 and they had us out the door by 12:30. It was really well-organized and everything went quickly. I judged 48 wines, which is light for a competition -- and really welcome. Because they had so many judges, it meant that my nose didn't get tired. There was no palate fatigue, no great struggle to discern some subtle characteristic.

There was only one bad part: Almost every single wine was atrocious. Not just bad, but aggressively bad.

Then I went home and proceeded to nap for hours. Napping is good.
