And something tells me that our landlord has reset the building's thermostat to somewhere in the mid-80s again. Toasty is good. Tropical, not so much.

My fave 1970s soundtrack has t be the first STAR WARS; I cannot recall any film where the music so grabbed my attention from the first notes.

...And Maurice Murphy, the trumpet player for the London Symphony Orchestra who played on that soundtrack, passed away at the end of October. There are some lovely tributes to him on the LSO's website.

JR, did you see my post a few days ago that the "special interest" item in the pic of my childhood dog was for you?  And, no, it was not her teets.  ;)

While searching frantically (to no avail) for a Christmas CD, I ran across Michele's VS CD's.  I'm uploading now as we speak.  It will be nice to hear them again.  And it's back to the Boulevard for me tonight.

Hey, all you HHW-ers, PM me with any questions you think I should ask BK at his "do" here on Saturday.  I'll have a little HHW "segment".  :)

I think your segment is more than a little - you're the Frank Rich to my Stephen Sondheim (as if).  You're safe if you cover lots of topics in the book, the record producing stuff, the other books, the site, and whatever else comes to mind.  At the LACC chat, the guy didn't even know he was going to ask questions, but his questions were simple and direct and I just tend to go off on tangents and yak about this and that.

TOD: "New York, New York." I still listening to that soundtrack time and again. Love George Auld's sax solos. Just amazing.

And a guilty indulgence: "At Long Last Love." Watching the movie may not be pleasant, but all those Cole Porter songs. I even like Cybill's version of "I Get a Kick Out of You."

Long morning already. Back in the old routine of working, working, work. It's as if the vacation never happened. But I have Sally Mayes singing Comden and Green on the stereo, so life is good.

I'm not quite ready to listen to them yet. Maybe this weekend.

My favorite single song, though, is "Be a Santa," the duet with bk.

Speaking of restoring classic films, I wish someone would do something about THE WIZARD OF OZ.  No matter how many times I hear the movie has been totally restored, every time I watch it; all of the Kansas footage looks totally washed out and devoid of color!

T.O.D.

I think my brain may still be asleep, because I am not coming up with many 70s Soundtracks.

For the moment, I gues I would have to say CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND.

The voice of the Seattle Mariners since their inception in 1977, Dave Niehaus, died yesterday.  Fortunately he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown a few years ago, so he got to know how much he was loved by baseball fans everywhere.

Good morning. I am sick; apparently I let my guard down so now I have the flu. And my computer is sick, too. There's apparently not enough room on the start-up disc for it to boot up. I had no warning other than Safari stopping work yesterday. Now I can't even get to the desktop to delete stuff. Argh. So I'll be making a trip to the Mac Genius Bar. :-(
