DR Ginny I'm sorry you had to delay your trip.  Why does your car drive better than the rental?

Today was a very intense day.  The brief I've been working on turned out to still need a lot more work than I first realized,  plus I had to get my exhibits all together and organized - all 89 pages of them.  And I had to do a witness list and.......  Anyway, it has to be in Omaha tomorrow, Edith left for the post office to express mail it overnight at 4:40 PM.   Whew!  I was there all day and working on nothing else.  It's done. phew!

Then I had to scan it all into my computer and figure out how to email it to the government lawyer in Chicago.  It's goofy.  The judge and gov't lawyer will be in Chicago while my client and I and our witnesses will be in Omaha for the hearing.   It's a strange feeling to have them somewhere else

In other news, Callie seems to really have improved.  She's now in the middle of the muddle with the other two.  They play and stalk each other. I have to get used to some of it, I keep thinking they are doing something other than playing.  Boo is so vocal about it.  But if I shoo Rick or Callie away, she gets made at me

I felt the same way when I had to go to court about Turner.  My lawyer was on the other side of the state and on the phone.  Turner or his lawyer never did show up but I felt lucky that Thelma was with me.    I think I would have been scared if Turner had shown up and I was alone.

I missed the news but I think we have about 15 inches of snow.  We had none, so it was a lot all at once.  They streets have been cleaned pretty well, but today the wind was about 30 mph or so, so the visability wasn't great and it drifted a lot...oh, and did I mention there are no degrees right now?  Ok it's 0 degrees.   Anyway, it was kind of fun to need to be at the office.  There's a certain satisfaction in digging out, bundling up in my warmest calf-length down coat and heading out into the weather.

Toby and Sheena get a bit rough with each other too.  I've seen a few boo boos on each of their ears.  Yet, you've seen the pictures I've posted of them laying with each other.

When I think things are getting out of hand I tell them to knock it off but who know what happens while I'm at work.

And now I'm starving.  I've been worried about getting this done since before Christmas.  It was one of those projects I can't quit thinking about but can't seem to get started on.   I'm really not a last minute person and this was too close to that for comfort.  Edith stayed late to help me get it in. I was so glad to have her there.

Ricky has had several scratches on his nose and one on his eyelid. that one bothered me.  I've already announced that there will be claw clipping tonight.  Maybe that's why they all ran upstairs, lol

Does anyone else find it just the slightest bid odd (but very telling about our society) that the Loughner's neighbor had lived across the street from them since 1972 and yet didn't know their last name?

It depends if they knew their first names or not.  Today we don't use last names as we once did.  I've had neighbors who barely say hello & I was under the impression, which could be false, the Loughner's were people who kept to themselves.

It has been a long day and it's far from over. I helped a friend with a really bad knee get to a doctor's appointment. She went in for knee replacement surgery a few years back. They botched the operation and she came down with a hideous staff infection. Twenty-seven surgeries later (you read that right), she has been OK, if not anywhere near normal. Today at the doctor's office, she learned that the infection may have returned. Judy's really scared that they many have to amputate.

We left the doctor's office and I made her try to forget it. We stopped at a roadside BBQ truck for some pulled pork slicers, then went to a pasta place where she had a spaghetti and meatballs (the comfort food she was craving) while I had an excellent Reuben in honor of today's TOD. Afterwards, we went to a third place for cake and pie and more forgetfulness.

Judy could use a few more vibes and prayers. I'm taking her an expert on Thursday for the next round of guess work on what to do.

Staph infections are horrible.  My own sister nearly died from one, which she contracted at a hospital.

They usually are contracted at a hospital.

DR Ginny, the first thing is you and your families safety.  I'm glad you are home, warm and safe instead of stuck either at the airport or along some highway.

Thanks, DR Jane.  We're still in "delay" mode, inching closer and closer to "cancellation."

I don't think our driveway difficulties had as much to do with the car as with the fact that the pavement was covered with about 3-4" of snow.  Usually Richard and/or Rob have shoveled before anyone attempts the 30% incline.

Thanks, DR Danise.  We are not thrilled with tomorrow's forecast nor with the road condition reports we've been hearing out of Tennessee and North and South Carolina.

From Cilla:
Quote
I drive.  There are many times I need to drive to jails etc and need a car during the day

I thought you mentioned you might need to take the bus if there was too much snow.  I'm glad you could drive.

You asked if I usually drive or take the bus.  Usually I drive, but i've always known that if I absolutely had to get downtown and the busses are running I can take a bus if I'm not comfortable driving.

I asked "Did you take the bus", which is my mind was asking if you needed to take the bus due to too much snow. ;D  I tend to leave out key words when I'm talking.
