Finished "Finishing the Hat" today. To complement the book, here's a great interview with Sondheim from PBS:

I loved the Encores! production of LOST IN THE STARS: the chamber orchestra was wonderful, the cast, led by the mighty Chuck Cooper who played the black senator in FINIAN'S RAINBOW, was quite good, the ensemble sang magnificently, the direction was fluid and clean, the musical staging was simple and elegant, and the musical direction of my beloved Rob Berman was impeccable. I did have a few problems with the book but the score was treated bneautifully.

Time for my meds and bed. We are supposedly in for another storm around 5am. I hope not.

Glad to hear that since most of the reviews were not kind to the show itself. But, speaking as a former theater critic, what do theater critics know?

Earlier, I proofed the first three chapters and right in chapter one I got the feeling that I'd used a certain product in book one - only in this book I was talking as if it was the first time.  I checked and I was right.  The problem was I didn't want to lose a lot of really good funny bits having to do with the product, so Muse Margaret and I spoke and out of that conversation came something even better, so I now have to rewrite half a page - it's very minor - changing the name of the product and finessing a few lines of chatter.

Rewrote the few paragraphs - it was actually very simple and only took about five minutes - I'll read it to Muse Margaret in the morning.
