Sadly gone, and sadly forgotten:

Corey Haim, Peter Graves and Betty Garrett Left Out of Oscars In Memoriam Montage

TOD:

I have a well-ingrained habit of whittling everyone's name to the first syllable once I get to know them well enough.  Shelley becomes Shell, Jacob become Jake, etc..

Then about two years ago, a guy named Shittah started to work in my office.

While I never made the actual faux pas, a few times I came close and it wound up sounding even worse when I stressed the final syllable.  Fortunately for me, the guy had a sense of humor about his name.  But even so...

LOL I thought you were setting up a joke.

So did I!

I already feel as if I've put in an 8 hour work day.  Manual labor.  Diverting water outside, unplugging drains as well.  Sucking up basement water one gallon at a time with the handy dandy small wet-vac. . .time to loosen up the muscles with a hot bath before I do the daily running around.  Then it's back to the basement to see if everything has dried out.
Fortunately, there are no valuables on the cellar floor; I learned that lesson many moons ago.

Luckily this faux pas wasn't mine- but a dear friend's:

What he meant to say:  Why, Miss Lee, it is a pleasure to meet you.

What he said:  You're Leggy Pee!!

Now that's funny! :D

How could they leave out a classic like Betty Garrett.  I bet they said she is known for her work in television.
I think she died too recently.

I filled one more bag, and now I feel like I'm done. I had to chase a beer truck out of the church parking lot. It was on its way to the bar/trailer park next door.

Back from Kroger, where I almost froze in the parking lot.  It's getting colder by the minute here and we were spoiled yesterday by a taste of spring.

Good Morning! Good Afternoon!

I'm up, I'm up... And my internet is work, as is my cable, but, of course, since I had to run around this morning in the drizzle, I haven't really had a chance to use it thus far today. That is until now. :)

It's so warm here I may open the windows.

DR Laura, if you wanted a beer that badly, couldn't you have just gone to the store and bought your own?

Yep! It's in the mid-50s right now. Of course, it's supposed to be back down in the 30s tomorrow, but at least it won't be raining. -I guess March's Lion came a day early.

I heard from someone over the weekend who did not crack a smile during the evening. He is not a religious person, but he got tired of hearing "F--- you, God" what he said was incessantly. Or may it's because he isn't religious ...

I think this one is really going to divide audiences.

It's by the guys responsible for SOUTH PARK, and I never found that funny. I'm not against fullscore raunchy humor and I think the Mormon policies on bigotry and retarded behavior could use a few kicks, so I wish it well.

A friend of mine who went to the Invited Dress Rehearsal is going back to see it again because he too was a but shocked by just how many times "F--- you, God" was used. He actually did laugh, and liked a good deal of it. But now that he's prepared for the shock, he actually wants to pay some real attention to the score and book.

DR Cilla congratulations on your big win!!!

Thanks, I'm still trying to figure out how to collect it.   It's on our paper's website, but it's through some company called UPickum or something like that.  The rules say I'm supposed to get an email, but no email yet.   I may call my friend at the paper and see if he can give me some advice

UPickum sounds better than Cheatum and Bilkum.

Just called and confirmend it with the SC Journal, so it's official.   I probably won't get the passes until later this week or next week because they haven't gotten them from the theater yet.   I'm not sure they are good for every movie, I know there are sometimes movies that say "no passes" but I can deal with that

While catching up on last night's posts, here are some comments:

re: the interviewers.  I watched the pre-show on E! so i didn't have to sit through crappy interviews. It was only Ryan Seacrest (who I think is very good at these types of interviews).

I thought Hailee Steinfeld looked sweet and age-appropriate. I did not like Jennifer Hudson's tangerine dress (didn't hate it just didn't like the color or the bustline). I liked Cate Blanchett's dress (pink) but didn't love it. Hillary Swank - very nice. Halle Berry -stunning!  Really liked Gwyneth Paltrow's dress. Didn't care for Nicole Kidman's dress. I really liked Natalie Portman's purple dress. And liked her hair down. Did not like her other award looks this year.

Red dresses - liked Jennifer Lawrence -simple but beautiful. Liked Anne Hathaway's red carpet dress. Sandra Bullock's was nice. But i liked the first two better. Liked Penelope Cruz's too (and she just had a baby!).

Since I recorded the show I sped through the interviews.

I liked Sandra's red dress the best.  I had mixed feelings about the bathing suit look on Jennifer though I admit she looked great in it.  I didn't care of Penelope's dress.
