Tuesday morning greetings! Today is the first day of my 6-week exercise class at the senior center up the street from us. It's a strength and toning class taught by the mother of a friend of Rob's. I think it will be a nice complement to the aerobic exercise I get from my walking.

COPLAND remains one of my favorite Sylvester Stallone films. They took some liberties with Copland's life story, but it was better than neglecting this composing master.

Larry, it's still early and my brain is foggy. Is that the same recording strike that killed any recording of "Love Life"? Any other shows that should have been recorded then that we have missed?

Yep, 50 here, too, so I've been eligible for quite a while now. And I could have moved into my Mom's retirement community 5 years ago on my own, or 9 years ago with Richard.

Yes, John, that musician/recording strike killed the cast album for Love Life as well.

When you turn 50 you often get a reminder from AARP although some of the discounts don't kick in until later, for example, a motel in Michigan where I might be staying in August for a family reunion offers an AARP rate but you have to be a member AND be 62 or older for the discount.

People who are 55 or older can live at The Senior Village (on Long Island) where a friend of Anthony's lives (she's 88). I could have moved in 3 years ago.

DR John G, that is indeed correct. I don't remember the exact details but I think it had to do with orchestras and recording issues. There were a lot of pop things issued during the strike with choral backup for soloists and no instrumental accompaniment.

I learned one good thing and one bad thing at my insurance office:
THE GOOD: When I turn 65 on 9/19, my premiums drop to $152 a month
THE BAD: I thought I was paid up through April and I'm not so I have to add $868 to my expenses this month to cough up thepayment along with the Internal Revenue payments and rent. Oy!
