I've loved and adored Leonard Bernstein's MASS ever since I saw the first presentation on PBS back in the early 70s.  It is a wonderful piece of music and theatre.

However, for years I had an image in my mind of Bernstein composing this work, having been commissioned--no, that's too commercial a word--having been implored by Jacqueline Kennedy to compose an opus that was worthy of the opening of the Kennedy Center in D.C..  I imagined Bernstein struggling through his long held grief as he feverishly penned notes of music to paper, working long into the night, a framed photograph of the fallen president atop the piano, working, working, working though his tears until the piece was perfect and complete...

And then I learned that Bernstein pretty much lifted all the music from his aborted musical A PRAY BY BLECHT, which was to be a collaboration with Sondheim.

I wonder how Stephen Schwartz reacted when he learned where the music came from?

Was the original production from/at The Kennedy Center broadcast on PBS too? -I only seem to remember the 10th Anniversary production in 1981 - which happened to star Joe Kolinski - alternating with Walter Willison - as The Celebrant.

It's not War Is A Science I'm hearing the "And then"s from--it's something older.  I'm wondering if it's THE FLAME from FLORA THE RED MENACE?

All the same, I'm glad to have War Is A Science going about in my head now.  I'm even doing some of the knee-tapping choreography.

I think the first PBS presentation (it was either on Great Performances or Theatre In America) was the original production, but I'm pretty sure it didn't feature Alan Titus.

I went to work and went to my 10:00 hearing, which was really a 9:00 hearing and thanks to Ricky waking me up early, I got to work early and made it to the hearing, lol.   My client, however, didn't feel the need to go.

I am at home.  I stopped at the store and picked up some canned chicken and some reames noodles - NOT pre cooked this time.  My chicken and noodles was much better.   I hate to admit I like it with canned chicken better than with fresh chicken

My mom told me not to make chicken and noodles (not soup, just chicken and frozen egg noodles with a little broth).  She said it was too fatty, but I got the almost fat free chicken, the noodles don't have much and the broth is basically fat free.  It hit the spot and I'm feeling better. Still going to stay home and work here, but I feel better
