She sounds like a Marie Barone, Vixmom.

 ???

Marie Barone from Everybody Loves Raymond. She's Raymond's mother (Doris Roberts, the actress)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!

How did LAURA know that?!

We watched this series when it was in syndication before we got rid of our tv.

Don't let the printer repairman get his hands on that laptop, Ginny. He might erase the hard-drive by mistake.

We received word yesterday that my aunt is being relocated to a skilled nursing unit at the retirement community.  This is a permanent move, so my Georgia cousin will be here next week to clear out the patio home she's lived in since 2005.

Richard's MacBook was admitted to the computer hospital to receive a new hard drive.  He's back to using the desktop on the dining room table.

The desktop is a Mac, too, DR Vixmom.

And, DR Laura, the data on the old hard drive is probably already gone...

So, if you want to know why I'm at home tonight, you can read it on my blog, which is dated tomorrow.

I didn't want to have to write this story more than once.

Thanks.

The invited dress rehearsal of WHERE'S CHARLEY? was quite wonderful tonight. When I was leaving City Center after the afternoon rehearsal, I ran smack into Jonathan Tunick, who was waiting for Red Press, the orchestra contractor. The two of them took me out to a lovely Italian dinner on West 55th Street. We were joined by Bill Elliot who's orchestrating the new ANYTHING GOES at the Roundabout. It was a wonderful gathering, and then Bill went back to the Porter show and Red, Jonathan, and I went to WHERE'S CHARLEY?

After the performance I rode uptown in a taxi with Jonathan, who's off to London to conduct a recording he's arranged for a singer named Kate Bush.
Sounds like a wonderful evening, even if the idea of Jonathan Tunick and Kate Bush working together is somewhat hard to swallow.

Does that mean you'll be able to make the SXSW HBO party tomorrow afternoon in Austin?

Just finished listening to "Once on This Island," which always makes me feel good. It says the same story as the novel, "Ceremony," that I'm supposed to be writing about, but it says it so much better and in more interesting ways. I'm going to have to include some snippet of it in the paper.

Be sure to work F. Scott Fitzgerald in there somehow, too.

I don't think you were posting here when my daughter was a college student, John G., but she said she always managed to get F. Scott Fitzgerald mentioned in a paper -- even one about Shakespeare.

Had a very good rehearsal with The Singer - she's finally mostly comfortable and having fun - the few times when things didn't work were when she wasn't having fun - she understands that now and hopefully tomorrow night she'll be even better.

I'm listening to the music from an upcoming release, the one where I discovered we had pristine sources for a major cult horror film.  It's been released on CD twice before and I have a rather intimate history with it, but that release was thirty-four minutes and taken from a third generation 7 1/2 ips tape.  We've now got the first generation 15ips tapes.  Unfortunately, the CDR that was made for me today has music only coming out of the left channel (it's mono, but you can't get any level that way and the sonics are all scrunched over there).  So, he'll have to check and make sure the uploaded files are correct - if they aren't he'll have to retransfer tomorrow.  If they are, I'll have him run me new CDRs.

I'm quite tired, especially of listening to music only coming out of my left speaker - but what music.  And it does sound like we've got everything here - which means a good fifteen minutes more music than the other release, maybe even more.

Good Evening!

Thanks for all of the Moving Vibes. They really did help today.

I ended up spending about fours hours getting my now-old apartment back in order. There was lots of dust, and I also had a few more things to set aside for a pick-up tomorrow.

I'm staying at a friend's place for the next couple of nights. I may be heading down to Virginia on Sunday, but with the crackdown on the Chinatown busses after two very horrible and unfortunate accidents over the past few days, I have a feeling the schedules may not be so "available". And then onto Chicago on Wednesday for a week, and then once I'm back, I move into my new place.
