Would you be totally blind if you just had the goggles without your glasses?  I have never thought about this. I guess since you can't swim with glasses anyways wouldn't you just be able to use the goggles? Or do you swim with your head out of the water?

Elizabeth Taylor was indeed a great lady. I just got through reading a couple of her obituaries online and wish they had made more of her charity work. She lost more friends than Rock Hudson to AIDS. Malcolm Forbes and Roddy McDowell also come to mind.

It was weird, though, reading the New York Times obit, because the byline was Mel Gussow, who died in 2005. I know that papers write obits in advance, but that was just a little too creepy.

I read the notes too fast this morning and thought BK was doing a "book singing" - which sounded kind of lovely, but I'll bet the reading and signing will be just as lovely.

So in that "Audra McDonald to play Bess at A.R.T." story that broke yesterday

http://www.playbill.com/news/article/149072-Audra-McDonald-Reveals-Casting-in-Porgy-and-Bess-at-ART

does this mean they may actually be changing (or supplementing) some of George Gershwin's own melodies and harmonies?

I wondered that myself. Or if they will go back to doing it as a musical with speech in between songs. I hope it won't end up like "Carmen: The Hip-Hopera."

I can't find any obits other than just tweets that she died. I assume the full obits will come later.

I woke up to big headlines.  While sad news I have been expecting it.  I'm glad the headlines have given her the tribute she deserves.

I absolutely need my glasses to do the exercise class.  Since I swim after I just kind of started to swim wearing my glasses and liked it.  I've never done that before.

I avoid television shows like that, DR DRUXY.....my guess is most of the "winners" were made since 1995.

elmore - What time was you dream?  I was sending "patience and financial sense vibes" to you around 1 a.m. so wouldn't that be something if it times out that way?

It was around 4 am or so, DR FJL.

I've just had horrible news. My friend, actress Helen Stenborg, has died at age 86. I dearly loved her and I will miss her enormously.

I found a photo of Helen with Timothy Busfield. I just spoke to her daughter Lauren.

does this mean they may actually be changing (or supplementing) some of George Gershwin's own melodies and harmonies?

What it means is a another attempt, like the one Trevor Nunn did in London about 6 years ago, to turn a silk purse into a sow's ear.
