Well, you've read the notes, the notes waned, and now it is time for you to post until the waning cows come home.

Tuesday morning greetings!  Richard left early this morning for a day in Lima - the diocesan steering committee is meeting at his church.  They don't need me and I certainly didn't want to hang around there all day.  Besides, I have my strength/flexibility class this morning and an appointment to deliver lots of baggy (on me) clothes to the consignment shop this afternoon.  Then I'm meeting my mother and cousin for dinner at the Olive Garden.

Good morning, all! I slept late. The alarm went off at 6:30, I got up at 7, thought about it and went back to bed till 8, during which I had a truly weird dream about working production on Into The Woods, a Sondheim show of which I am not particularly fond. I have a memory of an earlier dream involving buses and navigating Manhattan, but it's too vague.

I have errands to run today and maybe a trip to the NYPL, depending on how everything else goes. My priority is getting the EILEEN materials bound and a vocal score copied for the conductor.

TOD: Harp, because I'm so angelic.

I've always wanted to play the piano. I just love the sound they make. Horns are probably my least favorite, but they have their place and I enjoy them in that place. Anyway, pianos are very big and expensive. And more importantly, I have absolutely no talent. My sense of rhythm is particularly bad, even for a white girl. Mark and I are the modern day Antonio Salieri - we have this intense love of music, but no talent for anything musical. We don't even sing well in the shower. It would be really tragic if it wasn't so comical. Fortunately, we have talents in other areas that allow us to hold down jobs, so we can make money to spend on music.  :)

My name was called in jury duty at 3:30 pm. It was so late that they decided to delay the jury selection process until this morning. So, I've had all night to think of really terrible and politically incorrect things to say to get me rejected. But after seeing today's TOD, I think I'll just stand up in the court room, and sing "My Country Tis of Thee" really really loud. That's bound to get me thrown out.

Off for a routine blood test, my exercise class, and to drop off our tax paperwork at the accountant's office - bye for now!

I just read about an exhibit of photographs celebrating women christening ships.
The title of the exhibit:  Ladies Who Launch.

The exhibit sounds interesting, but I'd go see it just for the great name!

Piano

I've tried, a few times, to learn, but I just don't have the finger coordination or a musical ear.

And the family story:

There are several more recent videos of them that are interesting to see....Paddy, the lead singer in the video joined a monastery and just recently left.

TOD: Violin. So many beautiful pieces have been written for violin, but I don't have the discipline to learn an instrument like that any more.

I took piano when I was a kid, but I never practiced enough. I don't have a piano now, so maybe that's a good thing.

The Menken show sounds great. Wonderful group of songs. Wish I could be there for this one, too.

Well... Until then, I think I'm just going to take it easy for the next couple of hours. Maybe even do a load of laundry - at least the bed linens (I'm a good house guest). Oh, and my socks. I did some more "touristy" things yesterday, and walked a lot. A lot. By the time I got back here last night, I ended up falling asleep on the couch around 10:30. There's nothing really left on my "Must Do" list, so... yadda, yadda, yadda...

As for the Topic of the Day...

Count me in as another want-to-be Violinist. And/or a want-to-be Cellist.

Each time I try out a friend's violin or cello, it still amazes at just how much physical effort it does not take to get a sound out of the instrument. It's most definitely a skill, talent.

When I went swimming yesterday they had taken all the doors off of the showers.  I was not impressed.

The girl at the front desk said it was because some of the women had been locking themselves in the rooms when there were huge lines.  I complained and she said she would talk to the director.

At least they are opening the women's lockerroom in a couple of weeks.

That's the way I felt when a friend posted the viddy on FaceBook on Sunday.

DR MBarnum - Maybe you should bring one of your Bollywood magazines into the hot tub with you. That could prompt some conversation. Or cease it. ;)

Otherwise, I know a lot of places that do not allow any sort of reading material in a hot tub. The potential for paper clogs is too easy. You may want to report the mean guy to the front desk.
