Richard and I are going this evening to the opening of Middletown's new

Pendleton Art Center

One of the artists with a studio there is our friend (and DR Elmore's) Sam Ashworth.  Today is also his 70th birthday, so there's a little extra celebration planned.

Back from picking up no packages but did get the important envelope, so that's good.  Then I did a mile and a half jog, which, in this heat, is about all I could take.

DRs JohnG and Druxy:
THE 5,000 FINGERS OF DR T is one of those films you might only hear about at HHW, but it's such a classic in its own way. Somewhat bizarre, yes, but so fun and so creative!

Off to dinner, then to the San Antonio Symphony. I think the work tonight is a world premiere. A new version of "The Four Seasons."

I have a friend who thought he had imagined the whole movie as some sort of drug-induced flashback. When I found it on video low these many years ago and showed it to him, he was rather dumbfounded that he hadn't dreamed the whole thing.

I guess I'll have to watch it one of these days.

DR TCB - they sell USB cords at my local Dollar Tree.....I would imagine you need one with matching ends, but yes just check the connections on the back of your computer and the back of you printer and see if they match.

Thank you, Jrand.  George was indeed correct that e-bay had some great prices.  $0.99 on auction and $1.99 on Buy Now.  But when I figured out the cost of the shipping (expedited, because I hate to wait) I figured I would be paying the same price locally, or thereabouts.  I was going to check out both Big Lots and The Dollar Store, but by the time I got off work I was tired, and my back was hurting a great deal; I just swung into Freddie's and grabbed one there.

TOD:

DVD - Season Four of HERE'S LUCY.  Not much in the way of extras compared to the other sets....some short home movies, an appreciation of Gale Gordon with some interviews (he may have been a very nice man, but he was NOT a great actor in his work with Lucille Ball.....although as Doris Singleton says: "We overplayed everything, nothing we did was subtle....."  And of course Lucy was getting very.....well......old by this point in the series.  And of course there's Lucie Arnaz who gives a performance that makes Marjorie Lord and even.....Deborah Messing.....look like Meryl Streep by comparison.

Oh my!!  Here is a quote that should shake all of Tinseltown to its peroxide roots.  In fact, I am thinking of making a sampler of it for my wall!

My (and DR Jose's) friend Kendall Durelle Briggs is having his Sonata for Flute and Piano done at Julliard this evening.  He is an incredible talent.

T.O.D.

I still have the entire first season on CASTLE to try and watch this weekend.  It might be a difficult task, because today is opening of Major League baseball; and we all know how much Nicky loves his Mariners.
