I'm rather PO'd that the film version of "The Importance of Being Earnest" with Brian Beford is only playing in Dallas. It's not even coming to Austin, much less San Antonio. Why?

DR Laura, hadn't thought about the Charles Phoenix tour...must look into that!

and I would most definately love a Kritzerland tour, if the tour guide has the time to do so!!

I'm surprised you're not booking a tour of all the old folks homes and actors retirement centers. I've also heard a rumor you're now dating on ancestry.com that I hope you will confirm or deny.

Sadly, I was barred from the Motion Picture Actors Home. But not to worry, I will have luncheon dates with several yesteryear B movie actors, who are still able to get out on their own, while I am down there!

BK:  I'm on board with your assessment of "The Boy Friend"...all the way!!   I first saw it in Jacksonville FL (where I was stationed) and it was the cut version, but it was still wonderful.   It wasn't until the laserdisc that the full scope of Russell's vision emerged, and it was, by my estimation, a masterwork.

Love Twiggy, love Tommy, love Christopher, and love, love, love Pauline (Maisie)...as well as everyone else in the cast ("you....me....Hol-ly-wood?").  The production is superb, and while I wasn't at all surprised that John Williams won a well-deserved first Oscar for "Fiddler on the Roof",  I was rather hoping Peter Maxwell Davies and Peter Greenwell might be named.

Oh, well.

I wonder if BK would enjoy a Charles Phoenix tour as research for a Hofstetter book.

I have been elected mayor of River City, Io-way.  And I would like to thank all of my friends here at HHW!

How did you find out about the good news? Email? Phone call? The late returns on the Tee-Vee? ;)

The Buffalo Bills sang "It's You" to him.

I'm guessing it's the special nature of this being a filmed play...even if it is in HD.  It's also playing in Plano, though that probably doesn't help you at all.

Here's the Playbill write-up and schedule.

Maybe some video label will take a chance and issue it on Blu-ray disc.

The Boyfriend. I went to see it because I though Julie Andrews was going to be in it. But I still enjoyed the film

I've never bought from the Warner Archives before what is the quality like and what should I or shouldn't I expect from them

And I can't believe its only playing in Vero Beach, FL!  Not in West Palm, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Boca Raton or even Tampa or Orlando!

Plano is a Dallas suburb. A very rich suburb. And it's north of Dallas.

I did decide to do the laundry, and it's in the dryers. Now I'm working on a lot of obscure 19th Century singers and musicians. Who was Marie Wurm? Henri Merck? Corinne Lawson Moore? Clementine deVere-Sapio?

Perhaps it's Corrine Moore-Lawson. I found hits for her

Corinne Moore-Lawson Google Books

Corrine Moore-Lawson Google Books

but nothing for Corrine Lawson Moore.

Thanks, DR Ben!

I probably reversed her last names; she sang at the 1889 Worcester Festival of Music with Victor Herbert.

A Cincinnati girl, as I recall!

They generally do a good job.  A couple of the their releases are obvious digital ports over from VHS (TOAST OF NEW YORK a good example), but their remastered titles usually look great.

In fact I just watched their release of WILD ROVERS and it looked good.  Not spectacular, but good.  And the Goldsmith score sounded fantastic.

Any fans of Disney's INCREDIBLES or CARS, take note:  they're both on sale today at Best Buy in their new Blu-ray Combo Pack incarnations.  Plus Disney Movie Rewards is offering $10 off of INCREDIBLES and $8 off of CARS.

Thanks, DR JMK--I'm pulling the switch on this one.

Along with THE BOY FRIEND, I might also order the Vitaphone Varieties set.  But a lot of these shorts were included in THE JAZZ SINGER dvd from a few years back and I want to see how many are being duplicated in this new set before I buy.

I know.  It's a weird combination.
