After I got home, the most wonderful thing happened. Edith's husband, Chris, called me and asked me if I'd like him to come over and fix the downspout. OMG!!! I had stopped at the farm and home store and bought everything to rig up a temporary fix, but it was very temporary and I had no long term plan. So Chris and Edith stopped over. He took a look at it took part of it off and headed to the store. He came back and was able to rig up a temporary fix and will come back tomorrow to fix it permanently. I am so thankful. It was nothing for him, but it was a huge deal to me

Then after he got done I called and discovered that the party I had planned to go to at 5:15 was still going strong. A friend was "unveiling" one of Paul's paintings. So, even though I was totally pooped out, I went over. It was nice, but now I'm really tired.

My friend who is a housing inspector said I really need to pull up the carpet and let it dry out and then have it put down again. I really don't want to mess with that. I'll see what it's like in the morning. If it's wet I'll do it. I really don't want mildew

I'm officially(?) staying on the Upper East Side - 87th & 3rd - until I head down to DC/VA for Oklahoma!. I'm liking this location/neighborhood more than I thought I would. I'm a block from the express train as well as the crosstown bus. And Shake Shack too.

I'm back from Flushing, and, yes, I took a book. The dinner was wonderful: ravioli, sausages, salad, poached pears, and a very good red wine. It was a lovely visit and I had a wonderful time. Now I'm going to bed to watch a bit of the new UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS. and crash.
