Why didn't FJL tell us what he thought of Follies?

i'm dressed and going for a walk with keith and sherlock.  i can't getting anything with a long sleeve on so i hope i'm warm enough.  most importantly, i hope my knee can get me down our driveway and road.

Mother's Day greetings!  We are back from Lima, where we had a small crowd for church.  Richard took me to lunch at Culver's on the way home and I'm about to take a nap.

Whew!  Last load of laundry in the dryer. It's nice out today in terms of temperature but really windy.  Glad I got a bike ride in yesterday, because it's just too windy today.  I have some windows open but may have to close them....oh wow, it's 80 degrees.  Maybe I should water the flowers that are coming up

Condolences to DR John G and everyone who loved his friend.  Someone very special to DR Elmore and me endured, and eventually succumbed to, that awful disease.  She, too, was strong and brave and a wonderful example of how to live (and die).

Culvers sounds good.  I talked to my mom today and made some lunch from odds and ends around the kitchen.   I'm really hungry for chicken.  Maybe I'll go to the store and get one to roast myself.

This is the photo of my mother that has been my Facebook avatar for the past several days.  It was taken around the time of her 92nd birthday last November:

But this is actually one of my favorite pictures of us together.  It was a mother/daughter Halloween party and her costume pretty much sums up her sense of humor:

I went out to breakfast with my Godson's mother.  Then I went to visit my mother, and now I am home.  Time to watch the Mariners against the Chicago White Sox.

Attention, "Downton Abbey" fans and Titanic fans:

From an interview with author Julian Fellowes:

Since "Mary Poppins" premiered in 2004, Fellowes has been very busy. A sequel he wrote for "Downton Abbey" is on the way. (Part I aired recently on PBS.)

And the writer is now immersed in another "remake": a four-part TV miniseries for ABC about the Titanic. "We've found quite an interesting structure for it," he said. "We try to present a very rounded picture of the whole ship, with characters in first, second, third class, and with officers, servants, boilermen.

"Normally you have to sit through the whole thing before the boat sinks. We sink it every week. But only in the last episode do we find out who lives and who dies."

I've been checking out the internet regarding the flooding in Memphis.  Of course my mother said I'm crazy to go the day after the river crests, but it looks like it will be fine.   Got the house/cat sitter all lined up.  They moved the cooking contest and now have a great logo on the site "Memphis is cooking come hell or high water"http://www.memphisinmay.org/bbq  The seminar is at the law school and that looks like it will be within a block of the flooding, but I think it will be fine

I have been so busy this week I haven't had time to think.   Glad that I have my laundry done.  I intended to do many other things today, but I think I'm glad I just sat.

He's such a good writer; I still can't fathom how he turned out such a piece of illogical garbage for the book to the stage version of MARY POPPINS.

Everything about the stage version of "Mary Poppins" sounds dreadful. I can't stand to listen to the cast recording.
