So.... is Kutcher going to be the 1/2 man's father? Like The New Darren?

Wouldn't that be weird?  The article doesn't actually say, I wondered the same thing.

Of course, I've maybe seen 7 or 8 minutes of the show over its many years on the air.

Maybe they'll report Charlie to be in a coma....and then when he wakes up, he'll have forgotten what he looked like and how he talked.

DR Jane - The closest we'll get to Machu Picchu is attending Middfest this fall.  Peru is 2011's featured country and my friend Deborah Schultz has created an excellent grant-funded program on Peru's archaeological treasures.  The program includes last night's lecture, the one we attended last month on UNESCO's World Heritage Program, and a fabulous line-up of speakers Sept. 30-Oct. 1 here in Middletown.  They also launched a booklet of essays last night edited by one of my book group friends.  I'll get another copy and send it to you and Keith.

thank you.

That's right. I remember that now from the three minutes I watched the show. When the one-half man was a little boy.

I just got off the phone with the surgeon's office & was reassured all the squishy, clicking, & other disturbing sensations i'm experiencing are normal. What a relief! I feared the pin he put in was moving around.

I am a very proud aunt today.  Our niece Lauren (whose father died almost 2 years ago) just completed her second-to-last semester of college and earned a 3.84 GPA - her highest ever.

And

HERE

is our niece Laura talking on the radio about the Illinois State University golf course, where she is the pro.  She was with me for DR PennyO's show in NYC in 2005.

DR Jane - that's a relief!  Squishes, clicks, and other disturbing sensations are good reasons to call the doctor's office!

I don't know, I don't particularly care. In the few times I watched the show, I was amazed that something so dependent upon sexually over-active men and erection jokes could be so tasteless, not funny, and continue to run.

we watched in the beginning but there was never any growth to the characters & the "jokes" stayed the same.  over the years we have caught, accidentally, bits & pieces all of which were the same.  the older the guys, including the kid got, it just seemed more pathetic.

In other breaking news, today marks the one year anniversary since we moved into the new house!  We closed in February but didn't officially move until we were closer to the end of the school year.

Happy New House 1st Anniversary to JMK and Betsy!!

Oy, do I have a lot of writing to get done.  I must try to post reviews of THE HUSTLER, TWELVE O'CLOCK HIGH (with a most brilliant commentary featuring Mr. Nick Redman) and JOURNEY TO MECCA (an astoundingly brilliant NatGeo IMAX feature) today.  That is a LOT of words, dear readers, not to mention screencaps.

When JR and I were able to get the Lois Kibbee papers on Frances from the University of Washington, one of the things that made me LOL was Lois bragging to Frances and Jean Ratcliffe that she was able to "pound out" 1,000 words a day on Frances' ostensible autobiography.  I pound out 1,000 words before I finish my first cup of coffee in the morning.  :)

Maybe if Lois had been able to "pound out" 2,000 words a day we wouldn't have had the Scientology revisionism, let alone Jean Ratcliffe's self-aggrandizing work.

Breaking news from Variety:

Ashton Kutcher has officially joined the cast of Warner Bros.-produced CBS comedy "Two and a Half Men," as the show moves on from the Charlie Sheen era.
Production on the ninth season of the series -- the first without Sheen -- will begin in the summer, with plans to have the show ready for a fall re-launch.

"I can't wait to get to work with this ridiculously talented team, and I believe we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers' homes," Kutcher said. "I can't replace Charlie Sheen, but I'm going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people!"

Said showrunner Chuck Lorre: "We are so lucky to have someone as talented, joyful and just plain remarkable as Ashton joining our family. Added to that is the deep sigh of relief knowing that our family stays together. If I was any happier, it'd be illegal."

And now I believe DR FJL's head is exploding. ;)
