DR Vixmom, I bought the cheapest 12-cup Mr. Coffee, because I didn't want anything fancy.

DR Laura, With 2 coffee-drinkers (Rob and myself) wanting several cups in quick succession, the Keurig seems inefficient to me.  I know lots of people who love them - so convince me!

we have one at work and it is great -  the coffee pods can be pricey though

DR elmore - Congrats on a successful and fulfilling presentation! -Is the whole piece sung-thru? Or are there letters and/or poems interspersed?

DR TCB - The Edison used to be an icky hotel, but it underwent a major renovation a couple of years ago. Some of the room are still stuck in the 60's or 70's, but they really cleaned up the place. -DR edisaurus likes to stay there. Great central location, and some great long-time staff members.

How very sad to read that my favorite of all times aunt, Huguette Clark, passed away.  I wonder if I will be remembered?   ;)

She may have been your favorite aunt, but I was her favorite nephew. So good luck with that!

So...

I met my friend, Tyler, at Penn Station this morning. He wanted to head over to The Intrepid to check out some of the Fleet Week activities, and there was a "Broadway Showcase" concert at Noon.

It was a nice event. However, a bunch of the advertised shows did not show up. So... Three numbers from Jersey Boys... Three numbers from Rock of Ages... One from Priscilla....... Three from Chicago. -Besides being a "Broadway Showcase", it was also an "Understudy Showcase".* ;)

*Brent Barrett - a.k.a. the WSMA - did perform with his Chicago cast mates. That was nice.

After that, we took the M42 over to 9th Ave., and browsed at Triton Gallery for a bit. We were there for about 45 minutes... And we were the only ones in there - besides the lone clerk - the whole time. :-\

And I am home after some barbecue on 45th Street. Everything that was disorganized during the week seemed to jell this morning. We spent 40 minutes or so on the material for Ben, who was away frm rehearsals for the past two days. He arrived knowing both solos, courteasy of mp3 files, and we had to refresh his memory on "West Virginia Mine Disaster." David Lutken lost the guitar part for "Cherry Tree Carol," so I copied that out for him and Jarrod when I got there. David, God bless him, became the host he was playing and even the sloppier moments went smoothly.

People began arriving around 10:50, and we broke around 10:55, took ten-minute break and began somewhere around 11:10. The presentation lasted around 50 minutes, and we want to show to run about 75-80 minutes. There were about 20 people in the audience, including my friends DR Julie and Melly, Wendy Bobbitt, an MD I know of but had never met, Carl Moeller. Andrew Gerle, and other friends of the actors.

Who says HHW vibes don't work? Everything went really, really well and I think we've begun something full of heart and rather special. Everyone's excited about the next step.
That's really super news.

And then we headed down to Union Square to catch up with the Big Gay Ice Cream Tream - Tyler wanted a Salty Pimp. Well...

We got down to the truck, and the line was CRAZY!?!?!?

Then Doug asked me to help out a bit by taking order and making change, so.. I did...

And I didn't leave until three hours later. WHEW! OY!

*But he did let me keep all the tips. :)

And then I met my friend, Eric, for dinner. -He flies off to Albuquerque tomorrow for two weeks to play for a viola competition. And then he's off to France, Spain and Portugal for a month. -So we wanted to get together for a good dinner before we both head out of town.

My friend Carol, who lives in Greene County, N.Y., told me that a tornado touched down in Ulster County (home of Woodstock) last night. Tornadoes in New York? California? What is happening?

Thankfully, it didn't come near her house and no one seems to have been hurt.
