Saturday morning greetings! Richard and I are off to Oxford, OH, today for a memorial service for former President Philip Shriver, who died about a month ago. He was president of Miami University when Richard and DR Elmore were students and when I was hired as a librarian. The Men's Glee Club alumni are singing for the service.

It is a lovely day today, so far.
I shall be leaving myself in a little while to help set up the 50th Anniversary Board Appreciation Luncheon....and then head over to the theatre for the 50th Anniversary Open House....and then a short meeting.....and then who knows.....perhaps I will come home and celebrate that the 50th Anniversary Special Events are OVER!
Here is part five of our history:

Good morning, all! I slept late, and it feels lke it will be a very warm day in Manhattan. First thing on my agenda is the laundry and tdying up this apartment. Following that, I've got a lot of proofreading to do before I meet our DR Jose tonight to see THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, one of my very favorite comedies. I've been reading Congreve's THE WAY OF THE WORLD, and I now would like to see a performance of that,

As for
my
plans for today....
After I finish up my breakfast - part of a mixed berry scone and part of a Baker's Muffin (both from City Bakery) and some green tea - I, too, need to tend to some tidying up. And then I'll be heading down to Hester Street for the opening day of
The Hester Street Fair
. I have a couple
artisan
friends that will have booths set up there, and The Big Gay Ice Truck will be the featured "sidewalk vendor". So, I'll be lending some moral support as well as some practical support too.

TOD: Just re-read "The Great Gatsby" again and was taken once again by how beautiful the prose is. Am re-reading "The Sound and the Fury," which is a lot easier this time around, though I don't know if I'd really recommend it. And I'm re-reading "The Song of Roland," which is great for the lovers of blood and guts. (Everything for class.)
