Finished listening to the Jason Graae mix with the fixes and it's all good and will now go off to mastering.

My friend Craig came through his surgery well. He's now waiting to hear if the tumor was benign or not. Thank you all for the vibes for him.

Then we walked up to Eataly which was surprisingly not crazy-busy. And since it was not crazy-busy, we both had iced cappuccinos from their Lavazza stand. -And their iced cappuccinos are made by aerating ice cold milk, two shots of espresso and some ice. It's like a very airy coffee milkshake. Yummy!

Then it was back out to Worth Square to check out the offerings at MAD. SQ. EATS. It also turned out that some friends of mine were finishing up the first part of their rehearsal at the same time up at The Gershwin Hotel, so we picked up a box of cookies from the Momofuku Milk Bar stand to help get them through the second part of their rehearsal.

-Oh, and I picked up a Feta & Olive Pretzel from the Sigmund Pretzel* stand.

*DR MBarnum - I believe you will like Sigmund's start page on their website.

Speaking of coming attractions, I'm happy to report that it looks like my brother-in-law has finally secured permanent employment at a major L.A. trailer producing firm, after several years of having to freelance in the wake of the economic downturn.  We're really excited and happy for him, it's been a very tough couple of years.

Very good news!

After dropping of the box of Compost, Chocolate-Chocolate, Cornflake-Marshmallow, Corn and Blueberry & Cream cookies at The Gershwin Hotel, we headed back down Broadway a few blocks to Hill Country Chicken for lunch. We opted to share a few items:

Chicken Fingers
(Deep) Fried Pimento Cheese Sandwich
Buttermilk Biscuit

It turned out to be a very satisfying - and, in a way, a surprisingly "light" - lunch. ;)

DR Ginny i like your plan to watch the ceremony from the comfort of your home.

It was quite moving, with singers who didn't feel the necessity to turn patriotic songs into pop numbers (like the ones in last night's concert).  Richard was pretty wiped out when he got home - showered, had lunch, watched a little TV, and now has slept for a couple of hours.

And, finally, before hopping back on the 6 train back uptown, we made another pass through Mad. Sq. Eats to cool down with a Plum & Hibiscus Shaved Ice and a Rhubarb-Ginger Ice Pop from people's pops. Aaaahhhhh..

DR Cillaliz - Yes, it has been a nice day so far.

And, yes, it's all about balancing the eating with the walking. And more walking.

I am in a kind of weirdly eclectic listening mood.  I started the day with that great old Mercury Living Presence Dorati reading of Respighi's Ancient Airs and Dances and now I'm listening to the King's Singers do William Billings (do in only the nicest, most platonic sense).

Last night I watched a rather nice Spanish production of Alfano's Cyrano de Bergerac.  It's rather sad that he's only remembered for completing Turandot--the guy could write.  :)

DR JMK - Was Placido Domingo in that production of Cyrano? I know he "toured" in a production that was featured at Washington National and San Francisco Opera companies.

Good morning...

Today, my best gal, Sabrina, and I are heading over to Santa Cruz for a lovely day away.  Unfortunately, the weather isn't the best, but as long as it isn't raining, it's cool.  We are going to the Beach Boardwalk and will probably hit the downtown area.  There will be fried food eaten, sweets purchased, and hopefully sparkling conversation.  I say hopefully because every time we get together, we end up talking about the ex. - we were all friends even though I brought her into the relationship.  The ex, in fact, never said word one to her when he broke up- and this is a wonderful person who was over the house at least once a week, she watched the dogs whenever we needed it, and was a great help to us when needed.  Not one word, I tell you.  I feel bad for her.  She's wanted to call him, but what would she say?   I know what I'd love her to say, but talking to the ex is a waste of anyone's time and I don't wish it on anyone.

On that note (an ALW D-Flat), I have a load of towels in the laundry and am going to walk over to Starbucks.  (7 minutes door to door, can't beat that - ON FOOT!!!)

DR Matthew - I hope you and your friend, Sabrina, are having/had a wonderful day in Santa Cruz.

I believe it is. A holiday, that is. "Something" is not until tomorrow.

It's 87 degrees and very humid and windy here today. A cold front is about to move through.  This is tornado weather, hopefully if any touch down they will be in the middle of nowhere.

Let us hope.

Enough kicking around the block of DR MBarnum! I hope he is having a good day, wherever his mind may be.

He should be arriving home soon if he isn't there yet.

DR Jane - How many nursing homes are between your place and DR MBarnum's home?
