Thanks to George, I have Ethel Merman singing "Everything's Coming Up Roses" on the DVD and, well, I think everything's going to be bright lights and lollipops today. For all of us.

You're welcome! ;D

George, just finished listening to "At Long Last Love." It's like getting reacquainted with an old friend after too many years. Many thanks.

And I'm very glad that I was finally able to find this one!

According to Wikipedia, "At Long Last Love" is available online through Netflix:

"To date, there has never been a home video release of the film in any format, though it became available to stream online in early 2011."

And this is only for the few of us who care.

I care! I care! (quoting "Buddy's Blues")

DR George, CHRISTOPHER AND HIS KIND was a wonderful biography, but I like everything I've read by Isherwood. If you've never read THE BERLIN STORIES, "Mr Norris Changes Trains" and "Goodbye to Berlin," you should. When I was in high school, I began reading the literary sources of my favorite and not so favorite musicals. I've never read Seven and a Half Cents, but I've read the sequel about making the musical, Say, Darling. I remember the following:
    Tenderloin
    Candide
    Prettybelle
    The Sisters Liked Them Handsome
    The Once and Future King
    The Happy Time
    Meet Me In St Louis
    Flower Drum Song

There were more; my mind's thinking about Victor Herbert!

I think I will check out Isherwood's original books...and some of the others. :)

The sisters Liked Them Handsome was the source for HIGH BUTTON SHOES. I really enjoyed the Sally Benson stories Meet Me In St Louis as well. I remembered more that I read:
   Gypsy
   The Happy Time
The Son of the Grand Eunuch
(Rodgers & Hart's CHEE-CHEE)
A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court
   Buried Alive
(DARLING OF THE DAY)
   The Good Companions
   Greenwillow
The Story of the Trapp Family Singers
Anna and the King of Siam
   Tales of the South Pacific
   The Phantom of the Opera
   Les Miserables

Well, my friend Margo and I were planning on seeing a movie today and we just confirmed our plans.  We're going to meet for lunch in about a half hour, then go see "Bridesmaids."  Then, I'll come home and do some more laundry.

Have a good rest of the day, all!

DR Jose, if I ate like you did, I'd weigh 900 pounds!!!  Of course if I walked like you I'd be skinny as a bean pole, lol

Sounds like you had a nice day

Wasn't it scientifically proven that DR Jose has to eat twice his body weight a day to survive? ;)

A review of both "Carnival" and "Camelot" on Kritzerland:

That reminds me: I read the Paul Gallico novel, THE LOVE OF SEVEN DOLLS, as well.

As for the Topic of the Day...

The ones that come right to mind are:

"The Lords of Discipline"
"Saving Private Ryan"
"South Pacific"

lol.  he is driving his mother so i doubt he will stop at any, as tempted as he might be to do so.

I can hear the conversation in the car now...

"Mom, are you sure you don't need to stop for a bathroom. I mean, we're passing by Sunrise right now. I'm sure they wouldn't mind letting you go in..."

She's probably afraid he's moving her in! I don't think she has any suspicions about her son's romantic interests as an antique collector.

I've got two more numbers to proof tonight, and then I will finish up THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH. There were a couple of surprises and a major death I was not expecting last night. I just want to see the incestuous mother and her demented son get it good before rhis thing's over. And Ian McShane, too!

I've been thinking about DR MattH, who seemed to have an infatuation with Matthew McFadyen in the last PRIDE AND PREJUDICE remake, and wondering if he's seen this series. I miss him.

And...

Since I just did end up falling asleep on the couch, I'm now going to get off the couch and tend to some tidying up.

Laters..

Back from Best Buy.  They have some Best Buy exclusive Blu and Rays and I got two of them: Midnight Cowboy and Taking of Pelham 123.  They'll be available everywhere in a few months, but they were only ten bucks each.  The endcap where they put this stuff and been picked through, but a helpful employee found me the last copy of Pelham in the back room.  But why would you call a store "Best Buy" when the buys there are hardly best.  90% of their Blu-Rays are full list price.  And looking at their computer stuff, it's all list price.

Then I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries for my meal o' the day.  I may actually go swimming in the pool environment if the temperature of the water achieves 85 degrees - I've been heating it since noon.

Today was the nicest day of the summer so far.

I have not had any exercise in 3 weeks. So i wanted to go on my bike. Even if i knew i didn't have much energy.

My plan was just to go for 20 minutes. But since I was going so slow it took me 30 minutes to do what should have taken 20 or less. I just biked to the lake, went 1/2 way around and came home.

I wish I had Cilla's motorbike!

I was tired even though i was going slow. But it was nice to at least be outside.
