because of all the snow in the Northwest!!!!!   The Missouri River starts flowing this way at the continental divide in Montana, then crosses through north and south dakota before it gets here.   There are a number of dams along the way.  Because of the excessive amount of snow melt and the recent very heavy rains upstream, they have to release water from the dams upstream so that they aren't overtopped.  That would be much worse.  The problem is we've had excessive rains too.  So the ground is saturated and the river is already flooded.   There isn't much choice.  They probably could have released it less and sooner, but they didn't so there you go

We aren't the only place that will be flooded, towns upstairs will be flooded too

I guess those are the things that can go, Ginny. Do you remember any of it?

Oh, yes, DR Laura, I remember most of it.  And, yes, I guess it's safe to donate them to the garage sale.  Along with a few baby items I didn't realize were still down there.

Thank you Cilla.

And thanks for explaining the water situation.  I makes me wonder why housing was approved there.  I'm sorry you couldn't get through to help your friend.  Is she ok?

Oh I'm sure she got everything moved out.  They have until Thursday to empty their houses and they were told to expect the houses will be inundated (that's their term) with water for 2 months

Some of this is on the river and some is beyond the  500 year flood line.  Some of those people don't have flood insurance.

DR MBarnum you were very lucky, weather wise, this weekend.  It has been pouring all day!  Sherlock & I got soaked on our walk this morning.  I'll be happy when i can comfortably wear my raincoat again.

It's a really strange feeling. It's like the whole town is just waiting for the flood.   Which reminds me....they keep saying the city wells are fine, but they are really close to the river so I'm going to stock up on water before they decide it's a problem.  Think I'll go get some right now.

I am very frustrated with myself and Chase.  I did not notice that Gabe's conservatorship was maturing, and the stupid friggin' bank never sent me a maturation notice and rollover notice, and now they have stuck it in another 8 year term instrument, which is not statutorily allowed, as Gabe has to have access to it upon his 18th birthday.  I called the bank today and they are saying a court order will have to be drafted or else they will charge me $600 to change the term of the CD.  Ridiculous.

Back from a nice dinner.  The youngster wanted The Smoke House so since it's her grandma's last couple of days in town that's where we went.  Mom and dad were off at a meeting.

Rehearsal was fine - one of our newbies, a guy, was not in good shape, lyrics wise, nor does he have any love of performing it would seem.  He's been after me for six months to do one of these shows and I just don't get it and while I was very nice and positive I let him know in no uncertain terms that he has to pull it together tomorrow night.

Can they prove they sent you a rollover notice?  It is my understanding that they are required to do so
