I haven't commented here since last September??  Geez.  OK, I'll visit much more often! My thought for today (well, one of my thoughts today): I have to work on some lesser-known Cole Porter songs for my rehearsal tonight...

Gosh, I must have been absent that day for that message.

Glad you've posted again.  Look forward to reading your comments on stuff!

My visit with young Alex Rice went quite nicely, and I was wrong about his being a Carnegie Mellon graduate. He has one more year.

*It's actually going well today. I knew that this part of my prep would be a bit tedious, but I'm also coming across some nice subtleties and surprises in Richard Rodney Bennett's orchestrations. Which leads me to a question of two...

Robert Russell Bennett's orchestrations, dear!

AACCCKKK!!! That's what I meant. Sorry - my mind was still swimming in all of that minutiae.

That confusion happens all the time. Today is Russell Bennett's birthday, I believe.

So, FOLLIES is coming to Broadway after all? I wonder if they'll replace the director?

One can only hope!  I'm only able to judge via an ootlegbay, but--Yeesh!  Not only is Peters miscast, but she wears a snazzy red dress and is in a nice pair of heels throughout the party scenes.  In no way is she Sally from Phoenix in 1971.  When she appears in her gown for her follies number, it just looks like a costume change. I blame the director for these choices.

I don't think this transfer is such a done deal yet - there are no producers named and no one seems to know where the dough is coming from.  And a six month limited run?  For Follies?  There is no way it would be anything but a total washout, financially, so unless they've got a benefactor who doesn't mind losing a few mil, then I'd wait for another announcement with more details.

Not that they're the official word, but Playbill.com has announced it...but then the article says:

Dates, Broadway casting and ticket information will be announced soon. The New York Times reports that the New York production will also feature a 28-piece orchestra and will likely run through the winter holidays. Contract talks with the actors have yet to begin.

Now you too can wear the glasses that Gregory Peck wore as Atticus Finch in "To Kill A Mockingbird". -Well, at least some eyeglass frames inspired by the ones he wore in the film. ;)

Well, I'm leaving work early because I can. :D

I have a lot of invoicing to do tomorrow and I just don't want to do it now...so I'm not.

Be back later!

Today I saw three young Mormon men walking up the street.  They looked exactly like the characters in Book of Mormon, name tags and all,  I burst out laughing.  Luckily I was in my car and they were walking so they didn't see me, but I was kind of hoping they would break into song

I have returned from the market where I purchased everything I could remember I needed and then some. I also posted my NY State estimated tax payment, and I passed on the street an actor I recognized from one or several of the LAW & ORDER franchises. Beats me.

Well, at least we know it wasn't Chris Sieber. ;)

I need to travel down to the 7-11 today to inform them that the weakeness of their wireless signal makes piggy-backing off of them quite difficult.

How many languages can you say that in?

LOL!!! -Literally!
