I have been out and about all day and now I'm watching "God's Little Acre."  It was on TCM a couple of days ago.  I recorded it and burned a DVD to go with the Kritzerland soundtrack. :)

I really have no interest in the Casey Anthony trial but for some reason I'm watching the recap.   I know Cheney Mason, one of Casey's lawyers.

I have no interest in the trial either, however, the reports of people lining up overnight - and fighting for spots - to get into the courtroom each day make me sick to my stomach.

So...

Due to the Purple Stride Walk, a Washington Nationals Game and the usual weekend tourist traffic, my Metro ride into DC was very, very crowded. And, of course, I had to get off at the same stop with all the baseball game attendees. And, of course, since it was Saturday, the escalators and exits via the Nassif Building were closed, so everyone had to use the one(!) set of escalators to leave the station. Oy!

Thankfully, I didn't have to transfer to the Green Line for the final leg of the trip to the ballpark. Instead, I had a nice ten-minute walk to Arena.

Once I got to Arena, I just played through the Dream Ballet a couple of times. I started at the end, and worked back towards the beginning, going section by section. I know "things" will change once I start playing for dance rehearsals, but at least it's really in my fingers and ears now.

And then...

Thanks for the tip, Jose - I will re-tweet on Monday as well as post the link again here in the notes in case some lurkers were in absentia over the weekend.

And then I went to the matinee of A Time To Kill...

DR Jose, I'll be curious to hear what you think of A Time To Kill

DR Cillaliz - I liked it. It's a very well-designed production - good set, good sound, good use of video/TV footage. I also like the way it was staged with the actors making entrances and exits through the house, setting up the audience in the "jury box" in the second act.

Plot and script-wise, I guess since I was familiar with the original book, there were no real surprises. I did like the touches of humor here and there, but there were a few times when I would have preferred a scene not to button with a joke. The cast was good, although, seeing Sebastian Arcellus and Erin Davie together on stage and having them not sing was a little weird to me. ;)

The adventures of DR Matthew and DD Ben, a mini-opera.

Today, DD Ben accompanied me to a rehearsal for a revue I played in this evening. Everyone loved him and he hung out in his bed by my keyboard the whole time.  I took him out to do his "business" afterward (about 3 1/2 hours) and he didn't want to go.

Then we headed to auditions for The Wizin which DD Ben was cast as Toto - no joke.  I didn't take him to audition, it's MY show!!  LOL, but the director loved him and he will be spending time at camp with me, so we cast him.   That was 2 more hours without doing any "business"

Afterward, we came back to the apartment and I took him for a walk around (he's still not "getting" the walk thing, but he's better) and we walked and pulled and dragged for a good 35 minutes.  No "business".  At this point, I was getting late to get to church, so we went upstairs and I changed clothes, and DD Ben began to pace and sniff, etc.  I immediately took him back outside to see what he'd do.  And.... nothing.  I got frustrated, brought him upstairs, and instead of penning him in the kitchen, I put him in his crate and left to go to church and to my gig.

I was one guilty Papa.  I couldn't concentrate on anything.  I felt really bad.  I was reassured by a friend that DD Ben wouldn't do his "business" where he slept, so that helped a little.

I got home, approximately 6 hours later, and found DD Ben in his crate, happy to see me and NO "business" in his crate.  So, I grabbed some treats and off we went.  It took a bit, but DD Ben did his "business" and was rewarded with a treat or two.  He also walked well on the leash this eve.

So, for now, if I have to leave him, he's going to be crated for the time being.  I'm ok with that.

Now, DD Ben is asleep on the couch.  His favorite place... he can even get up there himself.  In fact, he was so hyper this eve, he hopped up with some hang time.

End of mini-opera.

And then after A Time To Kill, I gathered my bags and headed to Union Station. Thankfully, this time, I booked myself on the correct Bolt Bus. ;)

The ride back up was smooth and uneventful - although some idiot had a Motorola phone with that incessant "chirp", gawd is that annoying. Instead of taking the Holland Tunnel, the driver took the Lincoln Tunnel. I had forgotten just how much I like that approach into The City. Best of all, we pulled in right at 9:30!

The signing was really fun - maybe my fave of all of them.  We had about twenty-five people, including some folks I didn't know at all.  I read a bit, I answered questions, we had CAKE, I signed (we not only sold the new book, but also the first book in the series and a Benjamin Kritzer even).  Of the folks I knew, in attendance were cousin Dee Dee (sans her ever-lovin' Alan, whose back was bothering him - when my back bothers me I tell it to go take a hike and bother someone else), The Singer and her mother, the thirteen-year-old and her folks, dear reader Sam, looking very svelte, Adriana's biggest fan, Miranda, her parents and her friend. someone I went to high school with, film score aficionados Neil Bulk (he's done some work for Kritzerland) and Henry Stanny, our very own Doug Haverty, Illona Simon-Mueller and her ever-lovin' Steven, and our very own Amy and Mark.  I'm sure I'm forgetting someone, and then there were the folks I didn't know at all.

Sounds like a great time was had by most.  Congrats, BK!

Tomorrow is my sister's 64th birthday.  I will call her at about 9:30 in the morning and sing Happy Birthday to her, and that will be that.  of course, it is also my sister and her husband's anniversary, and it is Father's Day.  My sister doesn't know that next Wednesday I am leaving work early to join her and friends for a birthday lunch.

Happy Birthday to your sister, TCB!  Tomorrow, we're celebrating Father's Day and my mom's birthday, which was on Thursday.  AND my parents' 47th wedding anniversary is on Wednesday!

Well, for the time being he's the tenor.  But in a month or two, probably the soprano.

"Doogie Houser, MD" is on channel 121.  I've never actually seen this show.  Neil Patrick Harris is VERY young!

*Oh, and on my way back uptown, I got off the 6 Train at 77th and walked up to Luke's Lobster for a post-bus ride lobster roll... And then up to Shake Shack for a cup of their Coffee & Donuts Frozen Custard. YUM!!

**And, then after I dropped off my bags at the apartment, I went to Brandy's for some good tunes... and a beer. And it turned out that the "Donna" from my Mamma Mia! tour, Lauren Mufson, was the featured performer tonight! We had a nice little catch up session. -And it also turns out that the "Curly" from the Arena Stage Oklahoma!, Nicholas Rodriguez, is a regular singer/server there too.
