Back from dinner at Applebee's with all my visiting relatives.  My sister and her husband and their daughter are leaving early in the morning, so we said our goodbyes tonight.  My cousins have a lot of business to attend to tomorrow and their wives are going back to the outlet mall.  Dinner will be at our house, but they're bringing the food.  All I have to do is set the table.

JohnG- It was just exciting to be there watching a closing performance energy, the mid-performance standing O's etc.  Obviously the last time for this cast as is, since some have chosen not to go to Bway, such as Linda Lavin who will do a lead in an off-Bway play instead.

Summer drives me nuts a little....well more than a little.....my family seems to think I can drop everything every weekend and run up to see them.  It's 2 hours one way just to get there.  Actually, it's more like they expect me to go Father's Day, Fourth of July, the week after 4th of July and a weekend in August - when family is in from out of town and a couple other weekends.   Now, if one of them would ever come and help me just once, perhaps I could swing it, but when I ask for help, they say yes and don't show, so I quit asking.

Today I had to remind my dad that I was with him for 4 days just a week ago and talked to him every day for the last week.   I'm so tired of having to put my projects aside to go sit at the lake for their vacations.....sorry for the rant, but I'm tired of it.

Kim was a friend who passed away recently. The kittens' names are some of her kitties over the years.

Ok, one more thing about the rant.  This year I turn 50. Now, never mind the fact that I didn't hear from most of them last year at all. Now they think I should drive up there to be with them for my birthday.  Not going to do it.   I'm going to have my first party at my house.  That's part of the reason I'm working so hard to get the yard and house in shape outside.  We can always be inside if it rains, but I'd love to have an outside party and have all my Sioux City friends over.  I'll invite the family, but they haven't come to anything else I've had here, so I'd be surprised if they came.

Ok, now end of rant.  It was really really hard to plant the trees today. Much harder than the last three I planted.  It was hot and I drank literally a gallon of water while I did it. I'm feeling a lot better but am still a bit cranky.  Can you tell :)

I'm just gonna say if there were mid-show standing ovations then it was all friends of cast and obsessive Sondheim fanatics - no normal, well-behaved theatergoer stands in the middle of a show and I don't care WHAT show it is.  I remember the first time it happened - Hello, Dolly - not the original run, mind you, where the number got sustained rapturous applause and ovation and led to the built-in encore - no, there was no standing there - no, it was the later tours, when Miss Channing's husband would stand up every single performance after that number, after which everyone took his lead.  It's absolutely ridiculous and insulting, in my opinion (IMO, in Internet lingo), and it's suddenly all about the audience and certainly not about the actual show they're seeing - and thus ends my rant.  Nothing personal directed at FJL, who obviously loved the show enough to see it multiple times and I'm sure will be seeing it multiple times again should it in fact actually open in NY.

Yes, she was the one who helped with the kitties. She had no trouble sticking them with needles, but I cannot do it.
