Good Afternoon!

I had hoped to make it down to 23rd Street well enough in advance of today's auditions so that I could walk the new section of The High Line. Alas, since I didn't leave the apartment until a little before Noon, I really didn't have the time to do so. But I was able to make a pass through the Union Square Greenmarket, and I stopped by City Bakery to pick up some cookies as well as to check in with the owner, Maury. And then it was off to the auditions.

And once I got to Chelsea Studios, I checked to see which studio we were in, went to the studio... And noticed that nobody was there yet.

I was there at 12:50. It turned out that the auditions didn't start until 1:30 - not 1:00. -And, yes, my email said 1:30, so...

So I went to Whole Foods to shop for some toiletries.

And then once I got back to Chelsea Studios at 1:20, I met the staff, and then sat in the auditions for about two hours. I didn't have to play, so I just sat back and observed. I think we found who we needed. At least I hope we did.

Now, I'm back at the apartment just chilling out for a bit before heading to The Delacorte for tonight's Opening Gala of All's Well That Ends Well. -And, hopefully, it will.

I shall now be on my way to the lab to listen to the D-88 of reel one's sound - I've only heard it "raw" and it was horrifying. They've already done one pass with some sort of filtering, so I'll be hearing that. Then we'll discuss. I'm also bringing two different reel ones from two prints I had here at the house - one print, made for me specifically when the film came out - has only been run two or three times, tops, maybe not even that many. The other print was, last it was run at the Egyptian American Cinematheque, in excellent condition and I think it sounded pretty decent there.

If the actual 35mm sound is better, we'll then transfer those reels. If not, then we'll be having the long discussion about restoring what we have as best as possible. If I like what I hear on the 35mm or even the filtered version off the optical negative, I shall give a mid-listening standing ovation.

DD Ben's First Day of Camp -- first of all, DD Ben is getting really good at being on the leash. We walked a lot today, even ran a little. I couldn't be more pleased with him today. At camp, he was introduced as Toto, and everyone loved him. He sat by the piano, took a break and did a little "business" which is he was praised for, and then he got to go to the dog park afterward. He's had his dinner and is ready to hang out in his crate while I go to Curtains rehearsal. He'll go out again upon my return. He's been great today, we've made some strides. (no pun intended)

Tomorrow, DD Ben goes to camp and then to the vet.

It's a far cry from places like Fenway Park, which was named in 1912 after the Boston neighborhood in which the stadium resides and hasn't changed.
