It's the dressing and/or avocados that are fattening, not the main salad fixin's.
Avocados are not fattening. They have fat in them, but they actually help one lose weight. So, do olive oil and almonds.

Not according to my doctor and naturopath.  But of course it doesn't stop me from eating lots of all three.   ;D
That was according to my doctor and more than a half-dozen reports I've read recently. After taking me off potatoes, corn, white flour and rice, he said to up the avocados, eggs, oil and nuts, all of which would help with weight loss. I haven't lost pounds so far, but I have lost about two inches off my waist, which is more important, since that's where all the bad carbs and sugar go.

I have installed Office 2010 (though it took two times, which I fear used two of my three licenses, if so, I will bitch mightily if/when I need a third), and it seems to be working.  I also have uninstalled about 40 gigabytes of kids' games on this computer now that they have their own.

I haven't eaten any "white" foods in forever, but I am still quite chubby.

I actually look relatively decent from the front, but if I turn to profile, I make myself scream.  :)

You know, I don't really want anyone from high school to contact me. With only one exception.

LOL-then why are you on classmates?  ;)

It's the dressing and/or avocados that are fattening, not the main salad fixin's.

And avacados are a healthy kind of fat & should be eaten.

Aren't avocados full of saturated fat, the bad kind?

I just answered that ;)  They are the good kind of fat so don't feel bad about eating them.  For weight control you should only eat a handful or two of nuts a day.

There weren't any avocados in the salad, Blanche.  About an ounce of blue cheese crumbles and what couldn't have been more than two tablespoons of bleu cheese dressing and it wasn't exactly a large salad so how that gets to eight hundred calories I know not - I only know I am done with salads for quite a while.

I do believe good fat is easier to burn off with exercise.  Speaking of avacados I had some just before reading this conversation.

You don't like oil & vinegar dressing?  Blue cheese dressing, even low cal, is fattening.

Hello, everyone.

Just returned from my new fave Indian restaurant. Tiny, miniscule even, but sooooo good.

My understanding on fats is that if you don't get enough, then you crave them. And most of us crave the bad ones, like ice cream, not the good ones like avocado.

I took three years of Latin in high school, plus two years of Spanish. I used to be able to read a fair amount of French, though I was never fluent. But I have lost most of that now. I would love to speak fluent French.

I use credit cards a lot, but keep all the receipts and review my bills carefully. I haven't found many problems, but there were two notable ones: a $160 charge on my Nordstrom bill for size 2 pants (I used to be thin, but was NEVER a size 2!), and the $100 charge to an Internet porn site. Both were taken care of quickly and efficiently, but it is a very unseemly feeling! Not to mention the inconvenience of having to cancel the card and wait for a new one.

Vibes to Elmore for a quick and painless resolution!

That was probably about ten years ago ... and I kept getting junk email. I tried to erase myself from it, but I couldn't figure out how.

Salads are very good for you. You just have to choose the dressing carefully. And carefully means no blue cheese dressing.

Free trials are never free.

I have no memory of a "free trial" with anyone since I don't trust anyone. I do suspect Classmates to be behind all of this, and I can find no way to cancel my membership on the site.

Found it under "Help" and I've sent my request for a cancellation of membership.

Sometimes you get a box that is confusing and essentially no means yes and yes means no.  Not a great way to explain it, but I've learned to read the boxes that pop up very closely.  Perhaps it was one of those tricky ones that appeared on Classmates

I got sick of so many emails from classmates.com that I went in there and changed my email address to something I don't even remember.

;D  I simply told classmates to stop sending them.  Now I only get a few.  I still want to know if a classmate attempts to contact me.

I just don't think I should have to pay to find out who is trying to contact me.

Desktops have gotten a lot cheaper.  I was amazed when I had to get a new one for Edith last year.

My son won't open a statement. He had an old account he never used, but he just never closed it. He started getting notices, but wouldn't open it. He finally discovered that some company went through the entire balance of $800 in fees until his account was $80 overdrawn.

I can't imagine doing that.  I only have a debit card (I got rid of my credit card and all my debt except for my mortgage several years ago).  I have to check my balance every few days (a week at the most) and actually balance my checkbook to the penny every couple of weeks.  If there's any discrepancy, I have to go through everything until I find out what I did wrong...the discrepancies are usually because I made a mistake.
