I had no idea Christchurch continues to have aftershocks since their big earthquake in September. http://news.yahoo.com/7-500-earthquakes-shake-resolve-nzealand-city-161243790.html

DR Jose, that is a nice looking bunch of musicians! And seeing you all countrified ... well, it looks rather good!

I also like the look, especially on DR Jose.

Larry, I keep meaning to mention:  did you know there are two (count 'em) versions of GREAT EXPECTATIONS on their way, a Masterpiece version with Gillian Anderson and a feature film with Helena Bonham Carter, each as Miss Havisham?

I did not know about this at all! The Masterpiece Theatre might be good, because I thought Gillian Anderson was wonderful in BLEAK HOUSE, and I like Bonham Carter but I'd need to know more about who's behind the film.  I pity any Miss Havisham having to follow up Martita Hunt in the David Lean film.
I loved Anne Bancroft in what has to rank as the worst "Great Expectations," the modern update with Ethan Hawke, Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert DeNiro. It was filmed in Sarasota when I was living there, so we were all excited to see the movie. What a lousy sack of, well, Jane will fill in the rest of the sentence.

;D  I'm sure I can complete the sentence without have to waste my time watching the movie.

I gotta tell you.  I am all in.  Must stop everything right now.  I've only had about seven hundred calories, so after the four-mile jog that's a net three hundred, so I'll go to Gelson's in a bit and get a little something to nosh on.

Grilled avocado?
Yeah, halve an avocado, just brush a little olive oil and a tiny bit of salt on each half, and stick them on the grill, peel side down first and then the open faced sided. Do it quickly and it adds a smoky flavor to the avocado.

Isn't there an old saying "Halve a banana"

DR TCB so glad that your MRI went well and that they now have new machines. I was hoping you'd get one of those.

Thanks Jennifer.

Brett Barrett interview:

I have heard of this Tom Nondorf, but who the heck is this Barrett character?

Why, he's only the World's Sexiest Man Alive!  You hadn't heard??

Hello from rainy Newcastle.  My good weather ended Friday.  It rained a good deal Saturday, though I was inside for two shows so I missed some of that.  And yesterday it was on and off.  I checked into my hotel ---let's just say it's a budget place, but it's clean.  I decided to walk over to the "Sage Gateshead," to pick up my tickets for tomorrow night.  As I started to walk the rain came, so I hopped on a bus.

The "Sage" is a very strange looking building. I'm trying to think of how to describe it--maybe a caterpillar (with a bump on top). I picked up the tickets and took a slow walk back to the center of town (oh, and talked to my sister on the phone--from a "phone box."  I'm glad they still have those here.  My cell phone doesn't work here, so I bought a phone card that you can use overseas).   I had some photos printed at "Boots," the ubiquitous drug stores in the UK.  And I'm writing this from "Pizza Express." They have free wi-fi.  It's in a mall, so I don't know what the weather is like right now.

No show tonight.  When I'm London I'm used to having a choice of shows, but no such luck here.

I think I probably should have waited and come here tomorrow.  That way I would have had one more day in London.

Any idea who might be performing tomorrow night, Kevin?

My father was born in Newcastle and Keith's genealogical research indicates I probably have several relatives still living there.

Who knows, Jeffrey, you may have (a-hem) realtives all over the U.S, as well.

Watching a weird TV version of "Sweet Bird of Youth" with Elizabeth Taylor and Mark Harmon. Good acting, but Nicholas Roeg's direction, as was discussed by BK earlier this week, is limp, lame and humid.

And talking of Cabaret

I've been listening to the 1993 studio recording of Cabaret.

DR ELMOORE orchestrated the four bonus tracks from the film: Mein Herr, Maybe This Time, Money, Money & Tiller Girls
