Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both edgy and enhanced, and now it is time for you to post until the edgy and enhanced cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  I have never (to my knowledge) seen a roadshow version of any movie...in an actual theater, that is.  I have seen a couple of movies at the Cinerama in Seattle, but those weren't actual Cinerama movies.

I think I've missed out. :P

And talking of Cabaret

I've been listening to the 1993 studio recording of Cabaret.

DR ELMOORE orchestrated the four bonus tracks from the film: Mein Herr, Maybe This Time, Money, Money & Tiller Girls

ELMOORE replied
No, I did not score "Maybe This Time." I believe the wonderful conductor John Owen Edwards ochestrated that.

I reply

Went back to look at the booklet

You are credited with the four songs and John Owen Edwards is credited with "NSO Ensemble conducted by John Owen Edwards.

TOD

The only Roadshow movies I ever saw were Man Of La Manch (Too dark and gloomy for the most part), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (don't remember much about it in the theater) and The Sound Of Music (The opening leading up to the Sound of Music, The Do Re Mei Sequence)

The Sound of Music made me want to go to Salzberg and I eventually did go there. Breathtaking.  Especially when I tried to climb every mountain. The air gets thin up there.

Good morning, all! I slept an hour later than scheduled, which has screwed up my timetable this morning.Last night, I could not get to sleep, and after tossing about for about two hours, I got up at midnight and puttered about for an hour. Mt sleep was fitful from then on through the remainder of the night, and the last thing I remember dreaming is something to do with Christmas and transferring holiday songs from LPs to cassettes.

I have another trip to Toyland this morning to cover the territory I could not yesterday with the scanner because the work I had thought was finished had not been finished at that point. I don't particularly want to make the schlep, but I really do not have a choice; I've got a project to finish. One part of the project hit a bad curve yesterday, but my team and the work areon schedule and we will finish ours this month, even if the recording gets postponed.

I am a bit crabby, and I have nothing else to report.

If $3.92 were the only price for too little sleep, I'd gladly pay it.

TOD: I unfortunately never saw any of the road shows. I was not old enough to go by myself when they were popular and we rarely went to the movies when I was a kid. We saw "Sound of Music" but I think it was the regular engagement. And we saw "The Ten Commandments" at a drive-in on a double bill with "Gidget Goes Hawaiian." But I don't think that quite counts.

That's because John Yap keeps lousy records and miscredits everyone; I've been credited for work by Danny Troob, Ralph Burns has been credited for my work, etc. I worked on the CABARET recording while I was in LA mixing something with BK, possibly "Lost In Boston 1 & 2."  I remember the work, but I am vague about the time.

John Owen Edwards scored "Maybe This Time," and I will not take credit for another's work. Don't believe everything you read.

Tuesday morning greetings!  I'm off this morning to drop off the books I could not deliver to the booksale site several weeks ago because it was raining.  Guess what it's doing this morning  ::)  Rain or no rain, I have to empty the back of my car in order to haul groceries home and the bentwood rocker to the consignment shop.

OMG, some great comedy on the telly right now:  turn on the Murdoch hearing if you can.

Sonny boy was making his statement when Dad Rupert interrupted and sputtered out, "This is the most humble day of my life!," at which point sonny boy stared at Dad as if to say, "Shut up, you old coot!"  It was a moment.

TOD:

It's been so long since I've seen a roadshow movie...and many I didn't see until they went into general release.

However, the one that seems to stick in my mind is:

HOW THE WEST WAS WON

That final shoot-out on the train was really terrific.

And, it cost a stuntman (Yvonne de Carlo's husband) his leg.

Roadshows were pretty much a thing of the past by the time I was regularly going to movies.  I did see SWEET CHARITY in SLC's Cinerama theater (why it was there, I have no clew), and it must have been early in the run, because they were still selling programs, etc.

Well all I will say is the emperor has no clothes:  Rupert Murdoch is quite obviously an addle-pated, confused old man and his son is the power behind the throne.

He is eighty years old, after all.  His son seems to want to be clear on what happened, and the questioners (at least so far)  keep insisting that his 80-year-old father give details that a man of 50 (such as approx. my own age) would have trouble remembering.
