As I was saying...

Today is E. Faye Butler's last day as Aunt Eller. -Terry Burrell starts on Tuesday. Well...

During one of her exits, E. Faye would make ad lib about cooking something in her kitchen. Each day she would be cookin' up something different. So...

In honor of her last day, the cast and crew hosted a potluck dinner between shows based on the various foods that she had rattled off over the past couple of weeks and months. A list went up and people chose the food they wanted to cook. So...

Baked Ham
Fried Chicken
Pork Ribs
Baked Beans
Potato Salad
Okra and Tomatoes
Fried Corn
Collard Greens
Rutabagas
Cornbread
Deviled Eggs
Hoe Cakes
Plum Preserves
Green Beans
Egg Pie
Banana Pudding
Custard with Raspberry Syrup
Fried Green Tomatoes
Etc., etc., etc.

There was a LOT of food.
Well, that made me hungry.

There were actually 28 different items on the table! Including homemade Peach Cobbler and Ice Cream! :)

Intermission!

*I watched from the podium during the matinee, and I'm watching from the house tonight... It really is a beautiful production of a beautiful show. :)

Oh!  I thought you were doing OKLAHOMA.

I've been watching a talented friend - one who's neither a go-getter nor, I fear, a survivor - on the road to Crash and Burn today. I can do nothing but watch this occur and wonder why the hell someone with so much potential got himself into this condition. It's truly appalling.

I can't say more than I have, but this friend needs some serious vibes, so please send them.
You got 'em. We never know what causes this. It could be anything from diet to needed meds, but that doesn't make it any easier on him or his friends.

Hi Jose.  What is egg pie?

Isn't it like a quiche?

My 1st guess but it could be like an egg custard pie.

BINGO!
So, where's the recipe?

Just finishing up the movie version of "Bent." Mick Jagger in drag is almost as ugly as Steven Tyler normally looks. Rest of the movie is not as good as it should have been, but it retains some of the play's power.

I just bought a copy of "People on Sunday" for my mother. I'm watching the half-hour movie, "Into the Blue," also on the disc and think it will bring back some happier memories from the time before the Third Reich erased much of that.

I have had too many DVDs come in at the library this week. And the array is strange. To go from mean German Nazis in "Bent" to happy Germans in an early talkie to "Tron: Legacy" in an evening is not good for the mind.

I have been strangely attentive to my plants this summer and many of them have been thriving. But in the last three days, no matter how much I water, the mint has burned up in the heat. Not happy with that.

Put in a plumbago and a flowering Mexican oregano today, both of which are supposed to thrive in full sunlight. Also got a flower that I wanted but don't know the name. The salesman called it a bird of paradise, but it's not. It's something that starts out yellow at the top and turns bright orange at the bottom. Bahamas or Bermuda were part of the real name. I think.

John, the stuff that came up itself is doing wonderful; the stuff I paid for is struggling.

Well, two of the plants were only $2.50 apiece. The unnamed flower was $5 because it was in a gallon pot.

We're recording Melody's show - if I think it comes out well, I may release it on Kritzerland - I'm leaning towards wanting to.
