And...

I guess I should get ready for whatever we're going to do today - which, right now, is still TBA. My brother, Don, was talking about heading up to LA for the day, but he's still sleeping. And my brother, Mike, wanted to take his kids to the San Diego Zoo today, but he's also still sleeping - as are two of his kids.

I may just head down to The Original Pancake House or Jalapeño's or Chicken Pie Diner or... ;)

*I'm taking the red-eye back to BWI tonight. And, of course, I have understudy rehearsal at Noon, so... It's gonna be a long Monday-into-Tuesday.

I'd love to see Trinity College as well, but I understand the lines to see the few pages  from the BOOK OF KELLS on exhibit are enormous. Hmmm . . .

I guess we were lucky going just before Christmas as there was barely a line.  Dublin was beautiful all decorated.  It was cold but clear and we walked everywhere.  I was thrilled to find a Thornton's candy store in the walking area.  Everyday I went in for fresh Mint Special Toffee.  It was also the trip I discovered Humbugs.  We also went to a fancy Indian restaurant that was rated the top restaurant in the area.  I was handed a red rose as we walked in making the evening romantic.  The food was incredible.  We never went to an Irish Pub to eat or drink which was kind of funny.  They just seemed so loud with limited vegetarian selections & I hate beer.

There is also a statue (fairly current) of Molly Malone on Grafton Street.

I loved walking past the statue everyday.  My father often played the piano & sang the song.  I took a photo for him & got a postcard with a photo of the statue & the lyrics on it.

But, yes DR JOSE, you are correct....SOMEONE doesn't know how to cut a cake.

;D  I've never seen a wedding cake look like that.  Of course how it tasted was more important & it was beautiful before it was cut.

Reminds me - I've been trying to find the theme song for the TV show MAMA MALONE.  Has it ever been released on a CD?

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I'm coughing. I started coughing last night, and just thought it might be from some acid indigestion/reflux after indulging at the wedding reception, but... Now I think it might be allergies or the beginning of a cold since my ears are feeling a little "fuzzy" right now too. Anyhooo... I'm feeling fine otherwise.

When are you flying back?  Don't forget to take something, or nose drops, to prevent your ears from plugging up.

Besides the wedding, it's also been great spending time with my nieces and nephew. I've been particularly impressed watching John Michael take care of his little sister, Emily. He really does watch out for her even when he seems to be only paying attention to his video games or iPad touch. And Emily has also been quite happy and hug-gy this trip.

Sweet! :)

I have been thinking......and I think that Alan J. Lerner and Frederick Loewe would have revisited CAMELOT and made some improvements.....so I am going to add them to my production for the second week.

I will have Lancelot play the accordion during "C'est Moi" adding to his character and showing him to be a master of ALL things, not just knight things.

I have added a monolog for Guenevere talking about her childhood and father issues so that we understand why she falls in love with Arthur.

Because Arthur as a character is the most exposed in the play - I will have him do the second act naked.

I have also added a scene at the beginning of Act Two in which Queen Morgause, King Lot, and King Arthur are appearing on a medieval version of The Maury Show to use a DNA test to establish the paternity of Mordred.....during which I will play "You're Having My Baby" on an accordion offstage.

DR Jose, nice wedding stories. I can't believe the waiters butchered the wedding cake. I would not have been a happy camper.

Is that common in all broadway theatres now to allow food and drinks at the seats? Hate that idea.

Also, re: what people wear the theatre. I think it's nice when people dress up. Although i know a lot of people don't. But i don't get people going looking like slobs.

It used to be. And I wish the practice would stop.

If I'm paying anywhere from $40-150 a ticket, the last things I want to deal with are noisy candy wrappers, spilled drinks, rattling ice in cups and fellow audience members who think they're sitting in their living room watching a show on TV.

More importantly, it's about respecting the performers and artists on stage. Would you want someone sipping on a Coke and digging into a super-size bag of m&m's while you were performing?

I'm all for making the audience feel more comfortable, but there's a big difference between accommodating and coddling.

And on a practical side, the extra clean-up costs resulting from letting people eat at their seats can only be passed on to the consumer via higher ticket prices and "facility fees".

In their defense(?), they did slice off two very nice pieces for the bride and groom to enjoy later in the evening.
