I only had a chopped salad with turkey for lunch - less than a teaspoon of oil and a lot of red wine vinegar - so very calorie friendly.

This must indeed be the most popular site on the internet since DtM's lawnchair pic is on MSN!

Weird, weird weather.  Huge slabs of fog which have very slowly burnt off through the day.  Amazing to drive and walk through.  And we all ended up with sunburn!!

I must say that I am THRILLED at the news about your leg, TCB.  I hope a fundraiser does happen, and that the landlord is understanding and flexible for you.  He's a good guy, I know he'll try.

Yes, it appears the leg will stay.  I will remain on sulpha drugs for two weeks, and I get to go back and see Indira Gandhi in ten days.

Actually, Jane, one of my theater friends called another friend and talked about doing a benefit for me in October or November.   Too little, too late.

Did you mention that September is a great time for benefits?

I did say, in passing, that Jerry Lewis had always done well with Labor Day!

Good! I hope they take the hint

On this date in 1973, I moved to Middletown, Ohio, never imagining that I'd still be here 38 years later!
I'll bet at times it seems longer than 38 years. I lived there for 38 years or so back in 1984-85.

Pictures of the devastation caused by the East Coast Quake are beginning to pour in:

Cruelly funny.

And I'm glad I can laugh since my sister in Richmond is OK. Haven't seen a posting yet from Jose. Hope his family is, too.

I called my family. My brothers are OK as are my parents. Since they're in Richmond, they really felt it. They were at the post office at the time.

As for myself, to quote Morales from A CHORUS LINE: I felt nothing.

Glad to hear it.

Listening to a whole mess o' material from a beloved film musical - we'll be doing the third CD release of this, but it will be VERY different from the other releases.  It will have more music, it will have an entire cover version never released on CD, and we will do our best to make the original tapes from the soundtrack LP sound decent (poor album masters and nothing to be done about that other than to make them as good as they can be).  But we'll have overture, entr'acte and playout music in superb sound and that's another ten minutes right there.  I also have all the playback tapes used when they filmed the numbers and I believe there's several things not on the original album plus complete versions of songs (the album's are truncated).  It will be a two CD set because of all the extras.

It's still restaurant week and I'm still eating too much. Tonight: Duck confit with foie gras and rack of lamb with sauteed veggies. Instead of dessert, they gave me a basket of fresh berries. Very nice.

Five of us got together and were able to use the occasion to celebrate the 58th wedding anniversary of some friends I've known since I moved to San Antonio. Great couple and a wonderful occasion to mark.

Yep.  It includes Richard Sherman doing a vocal or two.
