Monday Vixdad surprised me with my birthday present-  he got me a color Nook with the credit card points he had been saving up

I was pleased to see that there were  a lot of free books available and I have started my library with these freebies

Vixmom, every Friday they offer a free book.  They call it Free Fridays...(isn't that original).  I usually get them all. I'm sure some are good and some are not, but you can't beat the price

Where do you see the free books?

Last night while reading I had the strangest thing happen.  I couldn't get it to go to the next page.  When I turned the page slowly I could see it turn, only the next page was the same one I was attempting to leave.  I finally went into content, found the next chapter & opened it.  I then backed the pages up until I was where I needed to be.

Fortunately the book was fairly short & the chapters even shorter.  Unfortunately I read the entire book last night.  The night before I couldn't sleep either & read most of the night.  At the moment I feel as if I shall crash as soon as we begin watching the debate.

We are here to choose your president

I hope they choose one who can find the US on a world map.

Today was kind of a wasted day at the office.  I got my desk organized, had a few nonproductive consults and right when I was about to get something done, the guys came to bring our new copier and big color printer.  Not sure I like it, but I'm sure it will be fine.  We'll adjust, lol.   There is now enough room in Edith's area that I can get her a bigger work table/desk whatever I can find for a reasonable amount of money.

I can't imagine a classroom without a map!  In second or third grade we learned the states the capitol and where it was.  As I recall I already knew most of them.  Of course there are a lot of people from both coasts who still can't identify all the states in between the coasts.

AND kids aren't even being taught how to write cursive anymore.

What's the world coming to??

;)

[Did my changing the font on the word "cursive" work...or does it only show on my computer??]

You know, if they asked me that question -- why can't one-fifth of Americans find the US on a world map -- I would have said it was because they were stupid.

Cool!  I was wondering how it worked...I've never done that before, but others here have. :)

the good news is that we have a mechanical breakdown policy on that car  so we would "only" have to pay the $250  deductible

That is good.  Did you ever get the Chinese food?

lol TCB by the end of the story I had forgotten about dinner.

I never forget about dinner.
I'm with you there, TCB. And sorry to hear about the cost, Vixmom.

To download free books I have  so far I went into "shop" then "browse" then "free books"  and a bunch popped up -- warning -  there are quite a few that would provide fodder for Elmore's VCR

From DR John G:
Quote
Looks like the book deal is happening. So, I have to write a book this all, take two grad classes, work full time, maintain the website to keep the advertisers happy and sleep. Going to be a busy fall.

It sure looks like it.

BOOK DEAL FINALIZING VIBES!!!
Thank you, Jane.

I am hoping someone outbids me for an alto saxophone on eBay.   I've been trying to buy one for a week or two and kept getting sniped or whatever they call it, so I bid on two of them and got the first one and am still winning the second....I hope someone wants it, lol...if not I'll be selling one of them

It would make sense if you could cancel your last bid if the auction is not over. Can you not do that on ebay?

Brent Barrett's former PHANTOM co-star, Sierra Boggess, has been chosen to fly to London and play Christine in the big 25th Anniversary performance of POTO that will be filmed, ala Le MIz.

Cool!  It's about freakin' time that they filmed a stage version of ALW's Phantom!
