After reading BK's rant in today's notes, I have  decided to discontinue my work on VIKING WOMEN AND THE SEA SERPENT: THE MUSICAL.

A shame, though. I'm sure it would have revolutionized Broadway.

*And I'm glad I left my brother's house when I did. One accident + two work zones = hour and 15 minute commute. :-\

I've seen both RED EYE and FLIGHTPLAN.

Both, I thought, were entertaining, albeit farfetched,

Regarding movies into musicals:

I don't think that the source of a musical is as important as what the creators do with it.

I know that some people disagree, but I love RAGTIME.  It's one of my all time favorite musicals.

On the other hand, I thought that SUNSET BOULEVARD, aside from a couple of terrific songs, was a bore.  Like BK, says, "It's like watching the movie on stage".  [We saw it in London with Petula Clark, who was great.]

Personally, a good musical is one where I leave the theater humming most of the songs.  These days, you're lucky to find one memorable song in a stage musical.

I guess that's why they keep reviving Rogers and Hammerstein.

As for last night's season premiere of "Glee": it is what it is. (Or was what it was.) It's not a perfect show, but I still find it entertaining. -And I'm happy for my friends who have picked up some very gainful from being cast in the series.

For DR Laura

http://www.kcautv.com/category/190185/channel-9-eyewitness-news-video?clipId=6271815&autostart=true

I like the part where they say they do a dance when the butterflies hatch or maybe she said "every one said it was dancing when it came out"  either way, I like it

I don't have a problem with turning a movie into a musical.  Loved HAIRSPRAY, loved LEGALLY BLONDE...I'm sure there are others.  I think it's worse to try to turn a musical into a movie..like Mama Mia,

TIme for me to decide how I"m going to spend the afternoon.   I have more than enough work to do, but am pretty drained.  I came into the office this morning and have put out most of the fires that started when I was gone.  Think I'll take off this afternoon and practice my flute so I"m ready for my first band rehearsal tonight

Cilla - have I ever sent to you the link to my song about David?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzGTky-Auys

It's ostensibly about King david, but seems to work for any David.

Orders still coming in apace.  I should think this will be sold out by this evening - and that's a good thing given the sales of our last few titles.

You, if you'd hung out here a little more in the past year! ;D

DR JRand61 and I discussed it, much to DR Druxy's disbelief, as I recall.

I have to prepare for my trips to meet David Brophy, the conductor of EILEEN who arrives today to conduct the RTE Orchestra tomorrow nght at Alce Tully Hsall, and then to meet Bruce Pomahac, Joshie, and Rob Berman for my birthday dinner with them at Joe allen's.

Richard just tried to borrow the Kindle version of a book from Dayton Metro Library and was told that he already has that content on his e-reader.  I find that a little creepy.

To TCB. In reply to your question yesterday. yes, Istanbul is solely a vacation. I used to do a lot of business travel until I retired a few years ago but now I only do vacations!

Today we took a boat trip on the Bospheros which made a change from all that walking.

Even though it's cool here in SW Ohio, we finally gave in and closed the windows and turned on the AC - just to dry out.  The humidity is 88% and our paperback books are curling up!
