Hello -  As I think DR elmore mentioned about New York--it's uncomfortably humid here even though it's not hot.

No, Jane, I'm not taking calcium and it wasn't recommended by my doctor

Is that because you eats food high in calcium?  I remember the push in my late forties to begin increasing my calcium intake to protect my bones.  Unfortunately, at the time, there weren't any forms of calcium I could tolerate.  I also didn't know about D3 or magnesium.

I ate too much tonight.  I need to move around, feed Yogi & Kitty, and wash the dinner dishes.  DGC Kitty threw up her dinner the last two nights.  Craig removed the cans of that particular food & I have something new to give her tonight.  I hope she keeps it down.

Of course that was a long while ago and things do change.

It isn't even an issue at this point. And yes, I drink lots and lots of milk and eat other calcium rich foods

Thursday evening greetings!  I was on the road to Yellow Springs by 7:30am for the grantwriters' conference.  Not being on the board anymore, it was weird to be there and not know how the sausage had been made.  My only responsibility this year was to moderate the funder panel at the end and that went well.

DR Cillaliz - Do you prefer to be called a "flutist" or "flautist"?

;)

Flutist.  Flautist never sounded like a good thing to be to me

Neither does horn blower, but I wear the name with pride.

How is the new job, td?

It's very invigorating, mentally.  I'm learning new names for old products, new recipes and new registers on a daily basis.  I've got the customer service down pretty well. . .;)

At this point, after a full week's worth of work, I'm finally beginning to relax and enjoy the ride.

:D :D

I'm sure you excel at customer service.

Nice story of a high school athlete who did what others didn't.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/highschool/blog/prep_rally/post/Runner-carries-injured-foe-half-mile-to-help-in-?urn=highschool-wp6171

That's a great story, but why did they have to call the injured kid a "foe"??

Just got off the phone with Cindy Williams and she'll be signing the first 100 copies of the Nudie Blu and Ray.  Our Kickstarter angels will all get signed copies as well (by her and me).

DS Craig could use some mega travel vibes.  He attempted to check in on-line and it said he has to take the same flights tomorrow as he will miss his connection in San Francisco.  He just left for the airport.  If he can't get on the flight to SF he is screwed.  If he can get to SF there are multiple options to get him to his destination.

We are shocked.  When Bryan's flight in SF was canceled simply put him on another flight out of SF which is what they normally do.

Thanks for the travel vibes, Elmore. I made it to Albany and then Catskill safely and on schedule with a stop at an excellent Greek restaurant for dinner. Not the usual gyro, pressed meat, but some fine vegetables and cheeses. The vegetarian options looked so good, I skipped on the meat.

Dessert was galaktabouriko, my favorite, which had a touch of orange blossom water in the egg custard and not too much honey on the phyllo dough. So the end result was light and exotic (well, OK, my one bite was).

TOD: Ever since I read Ann Patchett's "Sign of Wonder," I've been thinking about "The Island of Dr. Moreau" and would like to visit such a strange world. Or, for the same theme in different drag, "Rocky Horror Picture Show."

There are huge numbers of stray cats in Istanbul as well as packs of dogs running around. The cats hang around by restaurants hoping for scraps from the diners sitting at the outside tables. I pulled up a chair at one restaurant to find a cat asleep on it - I didn't disturb it and restaurant staff seem quite happy to have the cats around. They also wander in and out of shops, and even hotels.

From DR George:
Quote
Thanks Jack and Ginny!  I survived ASTD.  It was actually pretty fun.  The keynote speaker was Garth Stein, who wrote (among others) "The Art of Racing In the Rain," a novel told from the point of view of a dog.  Not really spoilers here but he dies at the beginning of the book and I think it's about him telling about his life with his owners and something about dog reincarnation.  I bought a copy, but I missed getting his autograph.  Oh, well.  It does sound like a very good book, so I think I'll read it anyway.

Was he interesting?  I fought against reading this book & when I finally did was surprised I enjoyed it.

He was interesting and funny and thoughtful...and quite attractive. ;) Although, I didn't get to see him up close.

for a moment there I thought that was Mike talking about BNFMG*
