DR Jane when you exercise is it first thing in the morning without any food in your body? Or do you just mean that you don't eat right before but that you've eaten something that day?
Like i said i could not exercise without anything in my stomach. Also it probably depends on how hard you work out. Just to do some minor exercises might not take that much energy. But also i can't imagine that it could be good for a person to exercise without anything in their body. I did actually try to bike once first thing in the morning on no food. ANd it was impossible. I was sluggish. And couldn't go very fast. It was not good!
LOL Jennifer I know, there was a time I never imagined going without breakfast. Exercising slightly fatigued or feeling like you might throw up, which would you prefer?
I have had by 1/4 piece of matzo and I'm off to the gym to use some weights & go 3-4 miles on the treadmill. I think it is a decent, not great, workout.
I think if i were in your position i would eat at whatever time i was able to eat at. And then exercise 1-2 hours after. Are you walking the 3-4 miles? (which would take less energy). It just doesn't feel good to me to exercise feeling drained or fatigued.
I try to exercise early before I feel the need for food. Do coffee candies before I exercise count

You know what happened when I ran on the trails. I walk at a good clip and jog short stretches when possible. I tend to jog more on the treadmill, though it hurts more than on the trails, while I watch the time & distance. On the treadmill I'm averaging a 14 minute mile. On a good day I do it in less time.
When I'm done exercising I drink water for my muscles & to reduce fatigue. Truth be told, I suffer from chronic fatigue to begin with & really don't feel worse for not eating & if I don't eat I have more energy. I know it doesn't make sense but it is the way it works for me.
