Here's a link to three video clips of Melody - doing The Boy From..., Hit Me With A Hot Note, and Part Of Your World.  It's halfway down the page - look for "video clips."

Good Evening!

In short, Parade was good. Well cast - Euan Morton is near-pefect as Leo Frank - and well sung. Alas, the production is not so well-served by the director nor their sound designer and board op. -But it was nice seeing the "new" Ford's Theatre. And I also ran into a bunch of old friends I haven't seen in years too. :)

She's adorable.

Good choice of material.

And after all the years people still laugh at The Boy From.... Which tells me that people are still discovering the great Sondheim lyrics

I do think it's the first time anyone her age has done the song - and it works perfectly.

Well, I must be off.  The family is meeting at a local restaurant, The Urban Onion, to celebrate my sister's birthday...one day early.  My sister is doing something else tomorrow (and I have a TAO board meeting to attend), so it's happening tonight.  I got her a gift certificate for Lowe's.  I hope she likes it. :)

Be back later!

BK knows about The Urban Onion.  We dined there before seeing George in THE BRAIN.

I'll have the sweet potato fries for an appetizer & the hummus plate for dinner.

Their website, http://www.theurbanonion.com/ has pictures from when it was like when we were there last year, but it's it's been sold and was completely remodeled.  Everything is on one floor and it's all just one big giant open room.  Also, the menu has changed.  Tonight, I had one of the specials...chicken fettuccine Alfredo.  It wasn't fabulous, but it was pretty good.

And my sister was very happy to get the Lowe's gift card! :D

Very nice!  She certainly looks quite comfortable on stage.

And now...another remake:  NBC to Adapt ‘Valley of the Dolls’ for TV.

Quote
It’s the latest incarnation of the storied tale: Jacqueline Susann’s novel has sold 30 million copies and went on to become the classic guilty pleasure 1967 film “Valley of the Dolls” starring Patty Duke, Sharon Tate and Susan Hayward. Then there are the more forgettable versions of the “Dolls” – a 1981 TV miniseries and a 1994 late-night syndicated soap opera starring Sally Kirkland.

But they're going to try it again, anyway.
