Well, you've read the notes, the notes remembered, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they remember everything because they have an excellent MOOmory.

I finished Gates yesterday afternoon and then went out for drinks with two colleagues after work. We had a great time talking and laughing and reminiscing. I'll still be there in 5 years so maybe I'll do it again in 2016.

And now on to the day, which has sprinkles (of the rain variety, not the candy variety) and grey clouds.

I must go over to the NYU Dental Clinic during my lunch hour and make a payment on my crown and then it's back to work and then the laundry after work. Usually it's a Friday chore but we are busy on Friday.

Later gaters.

Thank you, Vixmom. I hope to be able to celebrate when there's some time. When that will be is anybody's guess. Have to get an outline to the publisher this week and the first chapter done by the beginning of the next. Work is coming along. But there are never enough hours.

Oh well, selep is overrated.

So are typign siklls.

I got up and went into the garden to feed the fish and found a massive spider web at my own eye height across the path. Now I believe in live and let live so I don’t like to interfere with spiders and their webs but as I couldn’t get to the pond without disturbing it, I brushed the cobweb aside and went on to feed the fish. Back indoors I felt bits of spider web around my hands and arms which was difficult to get rid of and then, looking in a mirror, I saw a massive fat spider sitting on the side of my neck. Ugh! It must have taken a flying leap on me when I brushed away the web. I quickly knocked it off me……. but it was a nasty moment. I nearly became something like one of those ALIEN victims –  me ending up being wrapped in a great big cocoon!

Favorite Charlton Heston films? Certainly THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, TOUCH OF EVIL, BEN-HUR, EL CID, THE WAR LORD, OMEGA MAN, PLANET OF THE APES, WILL PENNY. I'll also add THE WRECK OF THE MARY DEARE which is a good Hitchcockian mystery and which is largely forgotten today. I saw it when first released in 1959 but haven't seen it in many years. maybe I should get the DVD to see how well it holds up. I met Charlton Heston once when he was in London. He was very courteous - a true gentleman.

Yikes, Doug R! Vixmom is going to faint when she reads your story. She hates spiders.

And for all our readers in Sweeden:

Charlton Heston har aldrig varit en favorit skådespelare till mig. Hans stil och personlighet har alltid varit iritating för mig i någon av de filmer jag har sett med Mister Heston.

Good morning, all! I had another round of Drama Book Shop dreams, in which I was alphabetizing books and got into a fight with a clerk I disliked over how it should be accomplished. I remember little more than that this morning.

This morning I have to return a set of orchestra parts for ROBERTA to Tams-Witmark and then I will stop at the NYPL. That's my day.

Re the TOD:  I keep thinking of the wonderful song by our dear friend, the talented Rick Unterberg:

He had everyone singing along with the chorus:

If you'da been Judah Ben Hur
If you'da been Judah Ben Hur
What would you have done if you'd a been him
If you'da been Judah Ben Hur

Thursday.

DR JANE the card is finished so no further charges can be made on it, even by me.  And I went through the list and they have removed all of the unauthorized charges - if there are others on my bill, I just have to circle them on my statement when I make my next payment.

Of course, I cannot access my card now since the account has been compromised, and won't be able to until I get my new card.....so I can't order my Ma & Pa Kettle DVD set until then.

DR JRand61, you have my sympathy. Do you know in what locations these unauthorized transactions occurred? When I got my new debit card in March, having to replace the info with various vendors became a real nuisance, then, in July, I discovered fraudulent charges from two vendors deducted every month and had to have that card canceled. That cancellation screwed up my payments, and now things seem to be fine. Of course, I also now check my bank balances every day!

I'll be getting up around 4 am tomorrow to catch a 7:05 flight, which will get me into Chicago at 9:40 am.

I've requested an early check-in at the hotel, because I'm sure I'm going to want to sleep when I get there.

Thursday morning greetings!  Today is DS Rob's first full day of his regular schedule as a paramedic with EMT, Inc. in Cincinnati.  His shift starts at 5am, so he left at 4 - at least he didn't have traffic to fight!  He works 13-hour days - 3 on, 1 off, 3 on, 7 off, Repeat.  I hope it doesn't take me 2 hours to go back to sleep every time he leaves for work...

That's more or less what I said in my book about him.

Heston was in many classic films...but they were successful because of the films...not because of his presence in them.

There were many other actors who could have played those roles (e.g. Burt Lancaster was the first choice to play Ben-Hur), and the box-office would have been exactly the same.

Films that depended on CH's presence flopped (e.g. WILL PENNY, perhaps his finest performance).
