<<<<<DOCTOR RANT>>>>>
I am so upset after today's doctor's appointment that I think I my head may explode at any minute. This surgeon that has basically kept me waiting for almost ten weeks total; tells me today that my back was already fused (Duh!) and he didn't think another surgery would help me. He is going to refer me to a doctor that can try giving me an injection. Other than that, he had no answers, None! His office will call me in about a week and tell me where the referral has been sent. The P. A. (physician assistant) handed me a sticky note and said that I might want to research this subject online. The note said, "Adjacent Segment Disease." When I looked it up it seems that she was trying to hint that my problem might be in my head. Apparently, doctors disagree on whether or not this disease exists. One source said that many patients are told that the disks surrounding where they had the fusion surgery may end up failing as well; and that sometimes patients expect it to happen so it does. I went and saw my own doctor today and when I told him about this "disease," he said, "What the fuck is that supposed to mean? I have never heard of it before." And every time I mentioned to the surgeon that the MRI showed severe spinal stenosis, the P.A. kept correcting me and saying Adjacent Segment Disease. So I am apparently effin crazy as well as crippled.
