What a wonderful evening it turned out to be!
I found out last week that the one piece of trash that my storage unit does not take in their dumpster are mattresses. I, of course, wanted to finally throw out my 12-year old mattress that has been taking up space in my storage unit for the past six months. -I don't know why I didn't think to ditch it earlier when I was moving everything into there? Well...
Since trash pick-up in that neighborhood is on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, I had planned to wheel it out of there last week and place it on the sidewalk outside of one of the apartment buildings in the neighborhood to be picked up. Well, it turned out that the carts they use at Manhattan Storage are equipped with those sensors that will lock the wheels once it leaves the property - like some grocery stores use on their shopping carts. So, this morning, I took a chance and texted Cody to see if he could help me out later, and it turned out he could.
So, I wheeled down my old mattress to the loading dock, Cody showed up, we picked it up, walked it the block and a half to 135th Street, dumped it on a pile of garbage bags, and then proceeded to walk to the subway to take it down to 86th Street, since I wanted to take him to Ditch Plains for dinner. Well...
