Good Morning!  Here's my update on my stay in NYC so far: My friends and (who are all here from California) went to Tony's di Napoli for dinner Monday.  They serve family-style --they serve a dish on a huge platter with enough food for 2 or 3 people.  We had ravioli and the meat eaters had some chicken-eggplant dish. It was very good.

Then it was off to Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.  It was a lot of fun, with a mostly familiar songs.

Yesterday, as DR Ben mentioned, we met him and Anthony for lunch.  We had a great time (and the food was delicious)!  Ben had to go back to work, but Anthony kindly showed us how to get to Washington Square Park and then led us to 7th Avenue so we could see the Village Vanguard.  My fellow Streisand fan, Paul, wanted to see where Barbr had performed a couple of years ago (I was one of the crazies waiting outside for hours that day, just for a glimpse of her majesty).

We then went to the Lion, where Barbra had first performed in 1961.  Then it was to a bar for a drink.

We really didn't have time for dinner, but I wasn't hungry anyway.  We had a 7 pm curtain for Anything Goes.

Unfortunately, Joel Grey was out (actually, the insert in the playbill said that the role of Moonface Martin is " NOW  being played by Robert Creighton," so I guess Mr. Grey is gone for good.  Frankly, I don't know he could have been better than Mr. Creighton.  Sutton Foster was amazing!  How she could still sing after that demanding tap routine in the title song, I can't imagine.  She didn't seem to be out of breath at all.    The other actors were all great too.

So, it was a fun day!   It was so great seeing DR Ben and Anthony!

It's supposed to rain all day today, I guess.  If there had to be a rainy day, I'm glad it's today since we'll be at 2 shows: Spiderman and Follies.

Only two of us are seeing Follies, so all 4 of us are going to enter the lottery for Book of Mormon, to better our chances of winning.  So, here's our dilemma:  thought it's very unlikely, what if 2 of us win the lottery  (we'd have 4 tickets then).  Do we refuse 2 of them and see Follies or take them and try to get rid of the Follies tickets?

Any suggestions on how to sign on to yahoo?  It just wont' work!  I had to use the computer in the lobby to see my email this morning.

Another thing:  I think I lost my phone charger cord.   Any New Yorkers here have a suggestion of where I could get a replacement?  It's so old they probably don't have it at the Verizon store, but I'll give them a call.

Thank You for all the Travel Vibes! They really worked their magic once again. Not only did I get on an earlier flight, but now I have more time to enjoy my torta from Rick Bayless' Frontera Tortas in the O'Hare terminal! ;)

DR KevinH - I can't help you with Yahoo!, but as for a phone charger, just ask at the hotel's front desk - or any hotel's front desk. People leave them behind all the time, and there's bound to be one in the lost and found.

There was a hullabaloo between my cousin and the landlord so Zumba has been canceled today.  Hopefully it will be worked out.

If you really want to see MORMON, THEN go see MORMON.  I'm not sure how easy it would be to re-sell your tickets to FOLLIES, but I know a few people who would like to see the show. ;)

And if you do want to stick with FOLLIES, just don't respond when they call the second name in your group.

And if you look at that review, it's rather interesting that the reviewer (a very prescient sort, if I do say so myself) presages BK's comments about Cher today in the notes.  :)

Back from a brisk walk through Miltenberg with our wonderful guide Claudy.  She told us a lot about the town, using fairy tales as her frame of reference and had a wonderfully animated delivery.  Richard and I stopped in a textile shop on the way back to the boat and bought a woven Christmas runner for our dining room table.

BK, does your new release feature a Tony award winner for a Sondheim musical and a co-star with another major Sondheim connection?

As a matter of fact, I did call the lost and found office at hotel we stayed at Sunday night . I'm waiting to hear from them.  Fingers crossed!

Likewise for you, DR KevinH!  Under ordinary circumstances I'd be insanely jealous of your time in New York, but being in Europe helps me avoid that!
