So earlier tonight, my sister, niece and I were at Costco to see if we could get some DVDs for our parents for Christmas.

We saw the new West Side Story Blu-ray (that's been mentioned here before) and I asked my sister if she'd get it for me for Christmas...then my niece asked if I could get her a copy for Christmas, so we bought two copies, one for me and one for my niece.  And neither of us will get them until Christmas.

I didn't realize it, but it's a numbered limited edition.  We looked at the numbers on the top of the packaging and several were in the 10,000-20,000 range...a couple were over 30,000.

But there were two, count 'em TWO copies that were under a thousand!  We bought numbers 936 of 50,000 and 913 (I think...maybe 916) of 50,000! :D

I have the special DVD that was released in 2003, which I'm watching right now.

It looks pretty good, even for an eight year old DVD.

Back from a really good dress/tech.  I basically had no notes for the cast, who were all terrific.  I had a few notes for myself - I am NOT having enough fun in act one - act two is really fun for me, but I have to loosen up in act one and not have it seem like I'm lecturing - in fact, I think I'll make a joke about it.  I also think when we have theatre savvy audiences the patter will be more interesting.  Our semi-audience tonight were all kids.  A few numbers really killed tonight, especially Silverware from We Take The Town.  I got tongue tied in my opening speech - which I do off-book - couldn't get out "Something's Coming" and "Somewhere" - I don't know quite what I did (it's never happened before) but I could not get the words "Something's Coming" to come out - I finally had to make a joke out of it.

Just prior to the show, I made one final change at the end of act one - while the entire cast is in the number, it was all Alet in terms of singing, but I had the company sing the final line with her, and that really makes it solid.

We had only a handful of lighting issues and fixes, and those will be done at three tomorrow.  I'm in a private dressing room - can't be around people or I'd just yak and use my voice too much.  I like just sitting and relaxing.  I did fit into my black pants and my outfit, I was told, looked good.  Jose played the best he's played - we have to have softer dynamics whenever the cast is on the platform, so he'll adjust that.

WHEW!!!

*But I am seriously considering some of those "supplemented" Jelly Bellys they make for long distance runners. Now that I'm playing "more" notes, I'm using a bit more energy, so... A little perk-up would be very helpful before the end of each act.

Got a disc of Charles Ives sonatas from the library and I can't stop listening to it. It's surprisingly inspirational as I sit here and type and type.

Which Ives sonata disc? The new one by violinist, Hilary Hahn? Or the still sort of newish one by my friend, Jeremy Denk? Or... ???

So Conrad Murray has got 4 years imprisonment (watching it on TV live). I'm rather surprised. I don't understand why the judge referred to him as still being a danger to the public.

I feel bad for the guy.  Jackson was determined to get the drugs & what he wanted he got.

I was getting my hair cut this morning when the verdict came down.  And since the court room was literally just a couple of blocks, the vibe and discussion in the barber shop was quite lively.

To you Tofu naysayers, beware:

Tofu Fights Back

;D

This is very strange & scary.

Well... I had Crispy Fried Tofu Balls for lunch today.  They were an explosion of flavor. ;)

And I also had a Maple-Bacon Sticky Bun and a Red Velvet Ding-A-Ling. The sticky bun was truly delicious, and the Ding-A-Ling - a homemade Ring-Ding - was damn tasty too. Red Velvet Cake and Cream Cheese Icing and Valrhona Chocolate Pearls enrobed in Dark Chocolate. Sooooooooo goooooood!

I have DSL from Verizon. If it's possible, I HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, (do you get the point?) Time-Warner even more than BK and we never even had Internet from them, just cable. We no longer even have cable (it's a long story and you don't want to know).

Time-Warner is a putrid, rancid, piece of sh*t company run by pigs with legs, in my humble opinion and if they went out of business I would go to the top of the Empire State Building and cheer to the heavens.

End of rant. Back to work.

I think Ant could use that as a dramatic monologue for auditions. ;)

Sorry to be so errant and truant.

Life out of my control just sort of took over and left me in the dust.

Maybe a light at the end of the tunnel is about to break through.

I am maybe home only 10 hours a week AWAKE, and the year is almost over.

2012, things will be more selfish for me, I need time for me, away from work, away from relationships, away from everyday stuff.  Just me time to play on the internet, to read, to nap, to just do.

See ya tomorrow, bed time.

Night.
