I've had my nice hot shower and feel very relaxed. Listening to some Bernard Herrmann music and in about an hour and fifteen minutes I'll go do my yearly thing I do, then return for the dropping of the balls.

Laura, I don't like fireworks, either. One year I was invited to a July 4th fireworks show out in the desert. I declined for several reasons, one of which was the desert in July. I later learned from the friend who attended that the host of the show lost a finger that night. I like the big, professional shows. Safer, plus better shows. But I don't go.

I think I'm going to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo with Paul tomorrow. I really liked the original version and am not sure I even want to see this one, but I want to win the oscar contest again this year and to do that I need to see the movies. So, I'm going to as many Golden Globe nominated films as possible. I know they aren't always the same, but it will really narrow down the field. I'm hoping The Artist comes to town at some point
