And...

As "The Big Waste" - interesting program, worthwhile premise, questionable execution - finishes up The Food Network, I'm going to go ahead and power down my MacBook, and at least get my computer stuff packed up. -I can check back in later via my iPad.

Page two?  PAGE Two?  PAGE TWO????

What is it, Sunday or something?

Today was a day...my friend Margo and I saw the IMAX/3-D version of "Tintin."  I really enjoyed it and the animation was quite good and it's been a while since I'd seen an IMAX-sized movie.  Pretty darned cool!  After that, I went to my sister's house to help her with a couple of things...we took her Christmas tree outside her house, then I had to put up four Ikea towel bars in her (much too warm) bathroom.  I only got home at 8:00 pm.  Now, I'm watching TV and ketchuping on HHW. :)

I had a very, very unpleasant incident on Thursday, followed by some unexpected and very bad news on Friday. I am still reeling from it. Some of this is fall-out from a very poor economy. I am trying to cope.

I read the notes re: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and was wondering for those who have read the books what is left out?

And what things are different than what was left out of the Swedish version?

(Probably don't read this if you are unfamiliar with the books/movies - don't want to spoil anything for anyone).

.
.
.

I am curious in the US version did they show anything about Erika and Mikael's relationship? I remember they left that out of the Swedish version and that really bothered me. Because in the books something that happens with them at the end of the first book is what starts everything that happens in the 2nd book. So to me that was a big thing to be left out.

It's in the US version and is part of what DR DRUXY described as anti-climactic.  It's part if the reason I liked this version.  I think in some ways it's closer to the book

I think I also liked seeing the extended ending in the Hollywood movie if only because it drove home to me further why the book in Sweden is called something that translates into "Men Who Hate Women" and it sets up why she won't speak to him in the second part of the tale.

But, the thing of it is, this same bit of business IS in the extended Swedish version - it wasn't in the theatrical release, though, but it's definitely in the extended version.  And frankly I thought the whole relationship was much more prevalent in the Swedish version.

Back from a really wonderful first show at Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's.  It really could not have gone better.  The patter got lots of laughs and I had a running gag throughout where I kept misstating the name of the club and our show.  It worked every time.  The singers were great, and it was so wonderful to have Michelle Nicastro's daughter, Callie (Cady, the younger daughter, wasn't up to coming), her husband, and her sister.  We had about forty-five people - at the Gardenia that would pretty much fill the room - at this new space not quite, although they're really good about setting up the room so it looks full no matter how many people they have.
