I read last week that Carol Channing's husband passed away.  I wonder if Carol knows?

We watched BEGINNERS last night.

Liked it.

Christopher Plummer should definitely get a Supporting Actor nomination...if not the Oscar itself.

Just read an article that said the smart money is on a "Win."

Yesterday FJL wrote about OKLAHOMA in Seattle"
Quote
Got the original OKLAHOMA ad from this production from TCB, it says "bring the family."

Maybe what they meant to say was bring the "family."

DR FJL, I'm surprised no one has done a Petula Clark "Downtown" parody yet.

Of course, because I couldn't help myself, I'd done this when the prices for Petula's show were announced:

Tune of DON’T SLEEP IN THE SUBWAY (Petula Clark recording)

You just read her news
And it gives you the blues
‘Cause you think there’s no way you can go, dear
(whoo-oo-oo-oo-oo)
You once were a snob
Now you’re out of a job
So you sweat that you can’t see Pet’s show, dear

But for a while just try to live less large
You’ll save enough to pay the cover charge

Try eating at Subway, darling
Try shopping at K-mart, hon
Save money at Subway, darling
Petula’s back
You know you wanna go
Get in the black
You’ll have the dough and have fun

(repeat chorus)

LOL!

LOL.....

$109 to see her at Feinstein's?  Whew!

Does that include dinner?

I'll wait until she comes to the Latin Casino...

I'll wait until she comes to the Puyallup Fair.

Well of course not - there were NO cell phones in 1944.

I can't find DOWNTOWN ABBY / UPTOWN ANN LANDERS on YouTube, DR FJL.  Do you have a link?

Oh, in honor of 40 views, I'd moved it to "UNLISTED by popular demand"  :)  but here's the link, bless you for asking.
I think it's a very rarefied joke, perhaps - yeah, that must be it, it's rarefied.

Weather is pleasant here, 46 degrees currently with lots of sunshine but next week we are supposed to begin Winter weather with temps in the 30s and in the 20s overnight.

They say there is a chance we may get a little snow on Sunday or Monday.

Rob Marshall in talks to direct "Into the Woods."

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/rob-marshall-takes-sondheims-woods-279821

Hope it works better than "Nine."

I just don't see INTO THE WOODS working as a movie.  A very, very, very long movie.

Alas, my "special" tickets for ONCE have re-distributed to the upcoming Broadway team of the show. Ah, well. I was really hoping to catch it while it was downtown.

*Strangely enough, I'm currently at Ripley-Grier where they're holding auditions for the Broadway transfer/version of ONCE.

Jose, when I finally get back to New York for a visit, could I tag along with you to places like Ripley-Grier?  Oh, and the food tour, too.

And this is why you should turn your cellphone off at a concert: http://mkitch.tumblr.com/post/15661821971

The New York Times just posted their blurb about, but I like this guy's "tone".

The phone's owner is just lucky Ms. LuPone was not performing that night.

And...

Well...

I'm playing for this "Broadway Intensive" this weekend here in NYC. Originally, I was only scheduled for about 20 hours over the four days, Friday-Monday. Now I'm booked for at least 35 over the span of four days. -And then I have a full day of auditions on Tuesday too. And then it's off to St. Louis early Wednesday morning. Guess I'm gonna be napping in St. Louis. ;)

The news that Elmore has been waiting for (NOT)

http://www.playbill.com/news/article/158446-Victoria-Clark-Will-Be-Sally-in-LA-Follies-with-Elaine-Paige-Jan-Maxwell-Danny-Burstein-Ron-Raines

How old is that publicity photo?

And, apparently, the ads for the LA run of FOLLIES give top billing to Jan Maxwell now.

I have to wonder what Maestro Gilbert's Mom (who plays violin in the Phil) had to say to him after the concert.  :)
