BK, I just pulled out my copy of "Duke Ellington's Timon of Athens," which you produced for Varese in 1993 (at least according to the back label. Is that one of the recordings you'll feature in the book?

DR Cilla it probably would have helped to have seen the first Holmes flick before the 2nd one to appreciate it more.  I enjoyed it much more than Mission Impossible & I wasn't feeling well when we watched Holmes.  I would tell anyone that if they didn't like the first Homes movie or are Sherlock purist not to see these films.

Oh I"m not a purist and there were parts I really enjoyed, I just don't think it's my cup of tea

As for On A Clear Day You Can See Forever:

I liked it. It wasn't as atrocious or offensive as some people have made it out to be. I kept thinking that it would have been best to call it something else, with the subtitle of "Based on On A Clear Day.... Maybe that would have helped alleviate some of the baggage - the good and the bad - associated with the original production and the movie. The heightened 60's decor and costumes didn't bother me much either.

Jessie Mueller really does deserve all the praise she has been getting, and David Turner is pretty good too. Harry Connick, Jr. was good, but just so not in his element, and the way the new book is structured, it doesn't play to his particular acting strengths.

For me, the true unsung heroes of the evening are Lawrence Yurman and Doug Besterman who did the arrangements and orchestrations. The vocal arrangements and charts are amazing. In fact, just an evening and/or album of songs titled "Lane and Lerner Revisited" featuring these arrangements and cast would make for quite a nice listen.

I did have to wonder just how long and just how they're going to try to keep the show running till the end of Connick's contract period. We got freebies tonight via a friend in the show, and ended up with second row center in the mezzanine. -And only the first five rows of the mezzanine were semi-full.

DR JMK - As for a cruise... If you don't want to or can't abandon the kids, a Disney Cruise may be the way to go. With they way they structure the activities on board for the 18 and under set, you could literally not see your children from 8:00am to 10:00pm. Each time I've taken one, it still surprises me just how many children I don't see while I'm on board.

A propos nothing other than having heard a great Manfredo Fest cover version of one of the themes today, BK would you ever consider releasing the Artie Butler score to THE LOVE MACHINE?  Two fantastic Dionne Warwick vocals.

Of course I would - I just released his People In The Picture and I love him.

After twenty-two pages of book, and two sets of liner notes, you might imagine that I'm not chomping at the bit to now write the notes - but I shall, Blanche, I shall.

I can't find DOWNTOWN ABBY / UPTOWN ANN LANDERS on YouTube, DR FJL.  Do you have a link?

Oh, in honor of 40 views, I'd moved it to "UNLISTED by popular demand"  :)  but here's the link, bless you for asking.
I think it's a very rarefied joke, perhaps - yeah, that must be it, it's rarefied.

Funny!  I read Dear Abby every day in an e-mail that I've subscribed to.

Just had to share. :)

Tonight, we had our first (rough) blocking rehearsal for "A Bucket of Blood."  We actually got all the way through act one...it was quick and basic stuff, but we got through it.  We then were able to go about half way through the first act again before it was time to leave.  Tomorrow night, we will do the rough blocking for act two, but we'll be in the space.  That'll be fun.

Weather is pleasant here, 46 degrees currently with lots of sunshine but next week we are supposed to begin Winter weather with temps in the 30s and in the 20s overnight.

They say there is a chance we may get a little snow on Sunday or Monday.

It's been quite frosty in the mornings and evenings for the last couple of days.

Rob Marshall in talks to direct "Into the Woods."

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/rob-marshall-takes-sondheims-woods-279821

Hope it works better than "Nine."

I just don't see INTO THE WOODS working as a movie.  A very, very, very long movie.

Maybe they'll split it into two movies (like Harry Potter 7 and The Hobbit)!

Coming this December, "Into the Woods: Act One!"  Coming next year, "Into the Woods: Act Two!"

;D

And this is why you should turn your cellphone off at a concert: http://mkitch.tumblr.com/post/15661821971

The New York Times just posted their blurb about, but I like this guy's "tone".

The phone's owner is just lucky Ms. LuPone was not performing that night.

:o That's exactly what I was thinking!
